Lemme tell you POGs something...this is the kinda view that will make instant coffee taste wonderful. Those are cloud tops I'm looking down at...

Oh yes, there's more...

You didn't miss anything, there was nothing to see.

First off, I don't want anybody to get the impression that I actually rode out to the West Coast. Oh no. Just like at the 2006 Beast Feast, I ADVtrailered out there

Revisited one of my favorite campsites in the whole world, in the Angeles Natl. Forest just off the Angeles Crest Hwy.

Where I viewed a glorious sunset, yea verily

Thanks to my hammock, I was able to do some stealth camping in the Cleveland Natl. Forest; couldn't have done this in a tent, not here anyway

Took the dirt road route (AKA the Nate Harrison Grade) up to Palomar Mtn, and did some more stealth camping on the way--the tent was the better option here

Where I woke up to this milliongozillion dollar view

There was this big ol' telescope up there to :point at

Oh yeah, there are rattlesnakes in the area. Be advised

And if yer bitten, well then remember to keep calm. Yeah sure, no problem, sez the guy who's never been bitten by a rattlesnake

The Palomar Observatory guest ledger, in which I got to make the first July 22 entry

This is a honkin big telescope, no doubt about it. It was the world's largest until 1992

Elevation at Palomar isn't anything spectacular, about 6K', but it feels higher. See what I mean?

I saw plenty of "campground full" signs, which was fine by me. I'd really rather stealth camp anyway. Cheaper, ya know, as well as being quieter

Sunset from the Nate Harrison Grade

Enjoyed plunking around on the dirt and paved roads in the area; this one can't decide which it is. I like 'em this way; keeps people away in droves, and besides, they're fun on Ye Olde KLR

The CCC did a lotta work in this area in the 1930's. To say that I have appreciated the fruits of their labor is quite an understatement. Here's to you, men of the Civilian Conservation Corps

More to come later. I've got unpacking to do...
