My chillren are all over the map. Last one standing is Benjamin, but he's prolly out there partying likka big fool-boy.

Gotta go into work tomorrrow.

Old and I liked it too Pete!

Listen, next July, there's a big antique gasoline/steam engine event at Tannehill State Park near McCalla Alabama.
http://www.tannehill.org/events.html
We ought to get a group of the Beast Bikes together and hit this thing. I did it a dozen or so years ago and got a kick out of it.

Suppose to strike out in the morning on the Wee to check out several of the covered bridges in Alabama (Blount County).
Also want to get a picture of me pointing at this weird rock.

Maybe I can get the VStrom next to it in the shot too. We'll see....
Its gonna be pretty but cold.
I may chicken out cause I'm soft.

Sure was a beautiful day for a ride--made it to Escribano this afternoon, with all the dry weather we've had lately the mudholes weren't too deep. Somebody was camping out there, but I had the sandbar all to myself

Kickstand don't work too good in the deep sand--neither does that skinny little 3.00-18 rear tire

Thought Grassy Point would be packed, but there was only one other vehicle out there, and one tent pitched on the beach. I'm surprised this fence hasn't been turned into firewood yet. I give it a couple more years, tops

Perfect weather, and surprisingly I didn't see a single hunter anywhere...I thought this was the first day of general gun season. Puttered around on EG on both the east & west side of 87 as well, and didn't see any hunters there either. In fact, I didn't see anybody out there at all! Not that I'm complaining

Xt's have got a lot going for them. Sadly power and suspension are not on that list

I liked mine, and would keep up with Joey in the tight stuff, but if the sand got deep, or straight roads were in the mix. I was bringin' up the rear throttle on the pin

Yeah there was some deep sand out on that sandbar, and that's the triple truth Ruth! I'm sure a Kenda Trakmaster in the appropriate width woulda helped out quite a bit...but yeah yer right, power and suspension ain't what little XTs are all about. They're all about fun, and I had me some of that.

Mostly successful day.
Pivot Rock, 3 covered bridges and nearly 500 miles of awesome riding.
Using David Haynes (GSBS) book "Motorcycling Alabama" as a reference.
Tomorrow turning south in the morning for more good stuff.
