Alright well y'all have done it now. I've done gone and got caught up in a wave of nostalgia. It happens to us Certified Old-Timers from time to time...

The first bike I ever actually DROVE, my cousin's Mini Trail. I think I was 5. And I was hooked.

My first bike, a 60cc Yamaha Mini Enduro. Dad got it for me when I was 10, had it for a couple years. Big Fun was had, and the hook was sunk even deeper.

By the time I was 12 I was ready for something bigger, and Dad got me a KE100. Stripped down for offroad use only, which of course resulted in lighter weight and maximum performance.

I was feeling the need for speed by the time I was 15, and the old KE seemed somewhat lacking. This Yamaha 225DX 3-wheeler did the trick, and resulted in my first emergency room visit. This was before 3-wheelers were outlawed; it was a Different Time in America, see.

Now where are my pics of my old Honda XL350R--man, what a fun bike that was...

Lets Start this one going

Inept,

Damn you look happy on that Yammy.

Looking back, those Yamaha DT series bikes (all of em) were really fantastic machines and added tremendously to the boost in riding during that time.

Honda had the XR series, but damn those yammys were sweet machines.

Along the way my WIFE has several interesting machines... Honda 90, Yamaha DT125 (gold tank), some kind of Kawi 185 with dual speed (meaning 8 speed) transmission???, and a Honda 185 or something that was Green... again a nice scoot.
What was that... a MR185 or what???

Inept: cant believe you had a three wheeler and are here to tell about it. I guess you were always ... well ... that way...or maybe that why.

One day back in '85 that thing landed on top of me after a jump executed with Maximum Ineptitude; I woke up in the x-ray lab and haven't been the same since...

OK its end of the year and I am transfering old files to backup and I ran across this one from 2006. It not really old school but does show one of the best bikes I ever rode.

Phil and I rode highly modified YZ250fs from 2001 to 2008. Light, great power, super suspension (thanks to big bucks) auto clutch, 18 rear wheels, the last models were 290 overbores. Truely awesome woods machines. Top speed may have been 55mph.

I was competing for first place in the Masters Class and finally did win my class and Helmet from SERA in 2006. Phil and I both won Helmets for first in class in 2007.

Hope you enjoy. You will see some familiar faces...

At least the music is old school

Betcha it was a MR 175:

Blast from the past!

The only picture I have of it. Claypit beside Brentwood Jr. High School.

Distinctly remember the MR175 having a ill-spaced gear ratio from 2nd to 3rd. Zing in first,,,second was right where it needed to be,,,,then almost bog the motor when shifting to 3rd. 3rd, 4th and 5th were properly spaced, but the little motor lost rpm quickly when a bit of sand popped up.
It was just 175cc afterall.
Sure was pretty.
A girls bike maybe?

Dang old guys and you're pictures.

Vic, after seeing you're YZ250F with the retro bumblebee graphics, I had to did up a pic of my YZ80. Loved that bike, good handling and a nice powerband.

Finally got a chance to view the video Vic.
Outstanding!

A 250 set-up like you and Phil had makes so much sense.
Power of a bigger bike,,,handling of a smaller bike. Smart!

Easy wheelie,

Oh you were cool. Love the helmet and "Decoster" visor. That was the look. Now if you had a pair of High Points?

I remember when styling meant you didnt fully buckle your boots so the staps would flop forward...7 straps were the deal, and of course you had to wear long red socks which turned down over the top of the boot. Check out any MX pic in late 60s for the "Grand Prix look".
