Your trip report is great. Dreaming about my trip next year to Alaska...just when throughout your post again over the last couple of days. What a great trip and a lot of good info. Thanks ps I know that you like the Triumphs a lot. i too have a lowered F650GS and took a R1200GS for a 80 mile test ride yesterday. It, like the Triumph is a bike that you sit "in" vs on like the F650GS. The power is awesome and the suspension with the ESA is really flexible. You should take one for an extended test ride to see what you think. |

have a great time on your trip next year...you will never forget it. You have a lowered 650? we have standard and yeah we do like the Triumphs for sure...1200GS no doubt is a great bike but in reality probably too heavy and a little over kill for what we like to do. If the Tiger 800XC gets the handle bar controls that the new Explorer has....then it would be a done deal. I have posted the specs for the Tiger 1200 on our BLOG. WE will still wait and see what BMW does for 2013.
Oh and thanks..sure glad you liked the report....it was fun doing it.

WOW...this is one sweet looking 800
If this is true from the Triumph Facebook page and also thanks to markbvt & walker from the Triumph Tiger 800 Forum, then I know Cheryl & I waited for a reason to see what Triumph would do with this great bike.
Now…did they or will they add handlebar controls and ambient temperature with on/off ABS button???? This shot is perfect evidence of global warming. If you look at the sides of the glacier, you can see where it used to scour the rock. It used to be about twice as wide and a long way into the river it feeds.

Another Adventure???
Working on another proposal tomorrow for another adventure but this time not with Triumph. I am starting a new job so that might be an issue with getting a large amount of time away and this is just in its infant stage too. Sooooo....who knows right? If you don't dream big than I guess go home eh? Time will tell and not sure where I will post updates but this is the only place I could think of right now. Happy New Year everyone! Oh and we are not sure where to go because plans were on hold because of the new job but I guess we need to come up with something pretty cool very soon.

There's always the short trips out the back door! I feel your pain...just need job security before I can do cross-country time... weekend camping trips are an option to keep fresh and keep your gear tuned up. Ride to Live!

we are going to need about 3 weeks and I think by the end of my 6 months of training I will have enough vacation and OT owed to me to get away....we need a cool place to go. I have three ideas for this next proposal...in any case if the company who contacted us ends up not interested at least we can start to think about where to go in August and Sept of this year. Yeah not as long as the Triumph trip but decent. One of these days we will be able to take about 6 months off and then from there we will see about even longer trips with taking a leave of absence from our jobs. It';s all about the next ride isn't it?
But you are so right...this fall we took a few 2 niters and it was great to just get away even for a long weekend.
