Yep, two Teneres, mine and Alex, and J_B on a DRZ400.

We did Newman to Nullagine, Running Waters Campsite, Carawine Gorge, Kunawaritji, CSR well 30 to 23, Cotton Creek, DQB, Tallawine Track back to Newman.

The track into DQB is challenging, kilometers of sand corrugations and deep river sand, then rocky, slow rutted twisty track for the last 18km. We rode in and out to Talawana track in 2 hours, but we were riding fast in the sand, not paddling along.

Good stuff Wilmo, Alex & Jon. How was the section of CSR you guys did? Does this ride scrub Aug 2013 off your plans?

Anyone familiar with the track which sorta runs west-east into the Rudall R NP? Woodie Woodie is at the western end and Nifty Mine is half way.

Yes we rode that, Skull Springs Road. Its a nice ride, relatively easy going. Leads to Carawine Gorge ultimately.

CSR was tough, about 30 sand dunes to cross, slappy sticks and quite hot out there, we sat under a tree from 12 to 3pm to avoid digging too deeply into our water. Great fun powering up the dunes, then changing down to first as you crest the top and heading down the steep side at full noise to keep the front wheel from digging in. I had the knack after about the first 20 dunes!

We rode Skull Springs Rd and the Telfer Mine Road, not the track farcall is talking about. I think farcall is talking about a track that joins Skull Springs Rd near Running Waters and then heads south east into the park. When we were researching this trip, I was told to avoid that track as it is very overgrown and very rough, even worse than the last 18km into DQB.

Nice photos Wilmo, I take it you are back now?

Yes I am back, 1142km in 12 hours from Mt Augustus to home yesterday. Awesome road heading South from Ashburton Downs to Mt Augustus, great riding.

Thats a pretty good effort. Was there still a lot of water on the side of the roads through there.

Not on the sides, there were a couple of wet creek crossings, 20cm or so deep, and a couple of flood damage highway diversions on the way into Murchison.

Yes, the Dooley Downs road, good riding there.

If that's the road that goes north out of the camp ground at Mt Augustus it's a great fast, hilly winding dirt road - did it with Pilbara, DrDave and a couple of others a few years ago. Hard going into the sun late afternoon though.
