What heat? It's not July/August yet. You have not seen heat yet!

Here is a great link that says it all.

If you get overheated just a little, take off the gear and cool off in the shade outdoors, not in ac. Temperature swings feel great, but only make it worse when you go back out.

I keep 10-15 Thermotabs in my med kit. I have very salty sweat, and I soak my shirt through 10 times a day. I wouldn't use them everyday, but if you are still lightheaded after you cool down, a couple tabs and a bottle of water will fix you right up.

Sweat, water, sodium and a microfiber layer. Wear a hat and long sleeves if you are in the sun.
Bookmarked, and a question about the Thermotabs. I remember being given some form to tabs when I was in particularly bad shape after a hot cross-country race, as in I was passed out, hyperventilating, shaking, the whole shebang. Is that the kind of thing you would use the Thermotabs?

(That's one thing I like about organized groups, you can trust people to watch out for you when it gets bad! )

That's the stuff. Used properly, they keep that from happening.

I use it like so:
Drink one liter/hr exercising in heat. After 3 hours of heat exposure, 1 tab for every liter of water. We carry about 3-4 sweat hours of sodium in our bodies. After that time, we have to replenish.

The best conditioning for summer two-a-days was hauling hay... square bales, real hay...

Forecast for today in Odessa includes 108 degrees and 25 mph winds. I'd hate to be on a fire line in West Texas today...

My coaches only saw us at the beginning and ends of our practices, they didn't want us dropping in some dark corner of the woods alone. Would have been too much paperwork.

103 when I got off the bike 25 minutes ago. And you could feel every one of them. And there's nothing refreshing about a 30 mph 103 degrees wind.

At least I don't have to wait very long for my engine to warm up.

I slung about 50 bales around yesterday for a local delivery actually. Fortunately I'm not the one that hauls all of our hay any more.

It's 105 near Brazos Point.

We use these things at work:
http://www.sqwincher.com/

They're pretty good.. but like all those energy/supplement drinks, you need to stick to a 4:1 ratio (4 glasses of water to 1 gatorade or comparable). I'm heading into my 3rd summer as a Texas resident and I finally don't feel like I'm going to die when I go outside and the temps are north of 100.
