Went with the Sharp Aquos 70" LED.
We've had it up and running a couple of months now, and am very happy with it. Colors are good, and if you've got a big wall or a big room, it looks great. We'll see how it lasts and performs for the long run, but so far it's good.

Went to BestBuy the other night to look at the wall of TVs.
My girlfriend's eyes glazed over pretty quickly, "they all look the same". Honestly, I couldn't tell a lot of difference in the LED and Plasma. Some 120HZ TVs looked better than some 600 HZ TVs. In some sequences of the video all the TVs were playing, the Plasma was "jerky" as the camera was panning the shot. Some of the LEDs showed some pixelation. Honestly, I had a hard time telling any different in TVs in the $600 - $1200 price range. I decided that 50 is plenty big for the den. 32 is plenty big for the bed room. That's about it. I don't know why I'd want "wireless" in my TV, and the sales drone couldn't answer when I asked, "why do I want wireless? What will it do for me?" All in all, a frustrating experience and I'm not any closer to deciding on a TV. I did like the Panasonic 50UT50, but it was the one that was jerky on some panning shots. And, it was $799 and there were $599 TVs that looked just as good... ![]()

Netflix and Hulu as well as the free content that comes with the Smart TV is a great option. It should also make upgrading software on the TV itself possible.

I went to best Buy and picked up one of these I have a Wii, so I didn't need wireless TV and I have zero interst in 3D. Most Blu-ray players can be had these days with wi-fi, so there was no sense in getting that on the TV.

I'm hoping to mount a TV above my gas fireplace in the condo I just bought. There is no cable outlet on the wall (or on that side of the condo), however there is one in the room above that I can drop down into the living room (townhouse condo). Electricity can be found and relocated easily enough so thats not the problem. No games but would like to get a blue ray player. I'm thinking wireless TV so I can stream netflix, hulu, etc. Is there a way to stream cable so I dont need to deal with a cable box/cable? Ideally I would like to see ONLY the TV on that wall and no boxes, receivers etc.
Secondly, is the Viera still the cats PJ's or is there something better? I dont give a rats ass about 3D. |

Sansui 32" LCD bought at Aldi in 2009 for <$400. Sent it with my wife to Ohio, and now Georgia. I still have my 1999 27" Trinitron that I use to watch the occasional DVD.
Plasma sounds nice. $800 for one doesn't. (I do remember when a 42" plasma was $27k, so $800 doesn't seem so bad, but I'll wait until the Sansui craps out.) |

There was nothing in the maual about break in or in the many reviews I read about a break in.. The only thing Ive read about break in is dont do a calibration until 100hrs. I found several websites that have done this for my exact tv. and Ill wait to try them, I think the tv looks great on the cinema mode, after reading your warning Ill keep it on standard for awhile, even though it pretty dark.

![]() Most folks on those forums do agree to not calibrate prior to the first hundred hours of use. You can probably find the proper "settings" with a little searching. ![]() ![]() Mike
