My favorite photo. Not only is the landspace breathtaking, but you can see the wolf running on the road.

must have passed you on the road!

.... and it makes me wonder if it was the same wolf we saw yesterday (july 17) Agree about the fog vs sunny days... just another beautiful perspective. We slept in Wiseman last night - and got in to Fairbanks this afternoon.. a day of sun and rain/fog.

I pulled up your blog because i was searching for some advice about a cheap clean place to stay in Dawson City....

If you make it to Deadhorse you've got connectivity... looks like some of those pics are in the Brooks range..

Fantastic ride!!

It has been a busy few days with little time, or internet access, for me to post an update. After leaving Denali, we were on our way to Valdez to see the end of the pipeline and hopefully catch a glimpse of some black bears catching salmon at Allison Point. We had an unexpected surprise when we realized we could see Mount McKinley from alongside the highway! This was great because our day at Denali was foggy with scattered showers, so we never had the chance to see it. We pulled off and snapped a few photos that I'll post up shortly. We had our best weather day of riding yet, but it was a little chilly at around 40 degrees...my heated vest and gloves were the best investment ever made. As soon as we arrived in Valdez we checked into our hotel and went straight out to Allison Point hoping to see the bears. I guess the night before the bears were out catching salmon, but we weren't so lucky. We did however get some great shots of a Bald Eagle that landed right in front of us.
After Valdez we were on our way to Hyder, AK, which is right at the Canadian line near Stewart, BC. We took the Cassiar highway down, which offered some spectacular views and a few curves to keep me interested! We also saw several black bear cubs alongside the road about every couple hours. I was really tempted to get out my camera, but I just wasn't sure where mama bear was, so I just slowly creeped by and kept my distance. We made it to Hyder early evening. Hyder is a small town with the main attraction being fish creek to watch the bears catch salmon. It turns out the salmon run was delayed this season so we didn't get to see the bears in Hyder either...2 strikes. So, what do you do in Hyder if you there are no bears you might ask...well, you go to the bar. We met a very cool guy riding from Brazil to AK. I have now met 3 people traveling from Brazil to Alaska this year. One of them jokingly told me I was just traveling "close to home" when I told them I was from GA, and I guess they are right when you compare how many miles they have traversed on their journeys....but they didn't do it on a Gixxer! Speaking of which, the 1000 turned its 50,000 mile mark on the odometer...don't see many sport bikes with that many miles.
After Hyder, we finished the Cassiar and grabbed the Yellowhead highway East to Prince George, which is where we are staying tonight. My grandfather stopped by the Harley shop for an oil change and I checked e-mails and milled around the showroom while the staff looked at my like I was something out of a bad superhero flick. No, it wasn't that bad, but you could definitely tell they don't see too many like me rolling through their showroom!

Awesome photos

Hi Cody,

The pictures are absolutely priceless. How awesome..makes me want to go to Alaska on my motorcycle instead of on a cruise ship. Really glad to hear you opted to cruise by the bear cubs...as you well know moms keep a really good eye on their offspring. Looks like you and grandpa are having a great time. Sounds like you are getting to know all the locals! Dad and I love reading about you at every posting....keep having fun and ride safe......
