The crap is in the oil filter. Dig it out of the trash and cut it open with a filter or pipe cutter.

Dear loyal readers,

Please forgive my tardieness with the past weekend's report. Winter is coming here in Colorado, and unlike Boise, we don't have a desert here to ride in the winter. There are mountains filled with glorious powder. I've been doing my research to buy a new toy this weekend. The huge snowmobile swap meet is in Denver on Saturday and Sunday and I hope to have one of these before Monday. Just need to make sure I buy the right one. I hope you understand.....

Sweet!!!

I'm shopping for one of these myself. Arctic Cat is my flavor. I want a 2009+ M8, but would settle for an 07-08 if the price and condition was right. You should have a great selection. I'm in SoCal right now so the closest ones are up near Tahoe or SLC (500 miles away). I hope to spend the winter in either Reno or Oregon so I'm closer to the snow.

I'm dying to come out to Colorado and ride these roads you've been on. Wow, gorgeous! That Red Cone one looks like it'd be a blast on my quad.

One thing I learned from this latest chapter is that if I do a Death Valley ride next month like I'm planning, I WILL go on D606's and not Shinko 705's. :)

New toy!! 2005 Ski Doo Summit 1000 H.O. Rev. Yes boys and girls, that's a 1000cc twin two stroke with fuel injection!!!! 175HP at the crank. 4500mi on chassis, 1500 on complete new motor. Runs like a champ! Not perfect, but I don't have to worry about scratching it. Smokin' deal at $2800. KBB is $4360! Has a custom Holz rear suspension with Fox shocks and a few other goodies too.

And a really nice all aluminum 1995 Trition 8x10 trailer for $700. Brand new tires, good plywood. Tilts or drive on drive off once I buy a ramp. It pulls awesome. Bottom line, I'M STOKED!!!!

Raining like a sunuvabitch when I bought it.

Wow, helluva deal! I woulda steered you away from the 1000 just due to the weight, but crap, for $2800 even I would have bought that. The Holz suspension alone is like $1500.

Is this your first sled?

I ride a 500 lb dirt bike, why not a 500 lb sled? If I find it's too heavy, I'm sure I can get my money back out of it and buy an 800.

'72 Evinrude 440, '80 Yamaha Enticer 250, '85 Yamaha SRV 540, '96 Polaris XLT 600, and a POS '92 Polaris Indy Trail I bought for a hundred bucks and destroyed in one ride. This will be the first mountain sled. Ordered an avalance beacon yesterday.

Yeah I thought about that. You may be fine, and while there are a lot of similarities, there are still differences.

A few years back I rode with a group of guys and one of them had a Yamaha Apex. Man that f'ing thing was HEAVY (700 lbs). They kept getting it stuck. After three times, I would no longer help them get unstuck, it was just too heavy. FOUR of us weren't enough to get that thing unstuck, when a normal 2-stroke sled can be gotten out with two people. In some cases, one.

So it's not the weight while you're riding it that's the issue... it's the weight when having to dig it out. :)
