No that is Annapolis Royal, with the pic taken from Granville Ferry. I really like Annapols it's such a quaint little spot.

It is, sort of. There is a causeway leading into town, with the tidal power plant in the middle. They have public tours, and an info booth. pic....

power plant taken from downstream.

Ride to Pubnico

Originally Shirley and I planned to go to Long Tusket Lake Sat. afternoon and camp, then take the backroads to Clare, drop off some supplies for our daughter, who is going to university for the summer. From there we would go to Yarmouth and pick up the railbed to Pubnico and maybe a little further depending on time. Well....Mother Nature had a different plan. Piss pouring rain Sat. afternoon meant delaying our departure, so we figured we would just go to our camp for the evening and make a plan for Sunday from there.

Rain delay photo

Shirley's bike, ready to roll

First stop........petrol

I'll take some too, please

Then onwards to the dirt part

A quick stop by a stream, sky is still pretty gray looking

but the other way looks brighter

Shirley asking "does this jacket make my ass look fat"

We rode until we got to the end of the earth....Who knew there would be a gate so you can't fall off

There is a small lake at the end of the earth

We left there and headed to our camp

morning at the camp dawned sunny, Looks like a perfect day for a ride

Nothing but blue sky

even the loons are happy

More to come

Sunday morning was a +1 bike day, better get the heck out in the sun and ride. We jumped on the bikes, a quick run across the Victory Rd. put us in Bear River in time for Breakfast.

The Breakfastaterium....do yourself (and the owner) a favour and eat here sometime. It was the best Breakfast I've had in quite some time

food for thought

Shirley digging in

pics from out seat...spectacular spot

With breakfast done it was off the Church Point to drop off a care package to our daughter

A pic of Stacey

Ste Anne University

The church next to the University. This is the largest wooden Church in North America

And blessed are the Big Noses....I mean the KLR drivers

More to come

Where was I, Oh ya, we skidaddled out of Church Point after visiting the alter for the blessing of the holy helmet of Antioch

It was off the visit the rest of the French Shore

Any non maritimer's know this Flag

Comeauville Harbour

Guys dig chicks on KLR's

Over the breakwall there is a beach

back to the harbour

and off we went to Smugglers Cove, I went looking for yo-yo smugglers, but found this instead

Next stop KLR Starbucks

We were suprised to see a Beemer in the lot (and it wasn't Yellowknife), maybe he didn't recognize the building

The Timmy's sits in a fabulous spot looking over Yarmouth harbour. A few of the sights from the small park across the road.

An old fishing schooner from the days of sail

Is that a bathtub on the deck?

Yours truly

We stopped a cop on the road and got directions to the abandoned railbed

and off towards Pubnico we went. Some fantastic scenery along the railbed

some swimmin holes

some more scenery

The trail society has done an awesome job repairing bridges and putting in benches

We found a fossilized head

The old water tower

had to consult the map and GPS to get the moon and stars to align and point me the right way

Aha...an ice cream place, right where I suspected one would be...It was good

It was 4 pm when we got to Pubnico, so the decision was made to head back, we took the slab to Argyle then into the woods, this road was pretty rugged, tree skidders had torn it up bad, that made getting through that much sweeter

The road was running with water due to Sat.'s rainfall, the streams were really rippin with current, but the lakes looked nice

We ripped up the slab to Weymouth

where I discovered an oil seal had let go in back of my water pump

so I nursed it the rest of the way home with a stop in Bear River for more oil. Made it home with oil still in her, guess what I'm doing tonight when I get home. Hope you enjoyed the trip !
