Airgun tip of the day: Don't shoot your flatscreen.

I racked the slide of my PPK bb pistol in my den after converting it to full-auto thinking the mag was empty...it wasn't.
Thankfully there was only 1 bb in it and it hit near the edge....I thought my wife would NEVER stop laughing.

That is a general gun safety thing....I don't care what it is.

I started my kid on this when he was 6 with toy guns...you don't even point a toy gun at something you don't want to destroy.

Does it really make a difference which brand CO2 is used?

After reading this, one wonders about cutting one in half..

My new rifle-

The scope is a Hawke Airmax EV 3-9X40 on BKL double-strap high mounts.

Got me a variety of pellets, too.

I used a scrap of tile backer to sight it all in which worked well enough considering I don't have an actual shooting bench.

Results with 14gr wad cutters. Those are clean holes through 1/2" backer.

These are 16 & 18 gr hollow-point hunting pellets-- none of these made it through the target, and few of the lighter ones actually fractured the back of the target.

Impressions so far:
-- A heavy rifle. I think it outweighs my AR. Without the scope.
-- A beast to cock.
-- Very nicely made.
-- Much more accurate than I am.

I'm enjoying my RWS 34P. You're right, the fit and finish on these German rifles are great. The TO6 trigger is excellent. I just did a lube tune on mine and it loosened up a bit. Maybe that's all your gun needs.

The manual did mention it would probably loosen up a bit after it breaks in, but I doubt it'll make much difference in the brute force needed to cock it. Most of the reviews I read mentioned high cocking effort.

Maybe it's a characteristic of a gas piston system.

Gave up on my POS Chinese pellet rifle for its inability to hold a zero (it literally had a 4" dispersion at 30') nor have the power to do more than annoy squirrels at that range.

Bought a box of subsonic .22 LR, and am gonna break da' law.

What are you shooting them out of? If you're looking for super stealth mode, try .22 CB or CB shorts out of a bolt action. Virtually silent.

I think I'm finally going to get one this Christmas season....I've been wanting to shoot but it is such a PITA in MA so even a 22LR makes next to no sense for me. With an air rifle I can just take it out back.

I've only had air pistols before so everything was subsonic, will the crack from a pellet going supersonic be that loud? Basically will I piss off my neighbors 30-40 feet away?
