KLR 650 cruise control

I have a '01 KLR 650 and I am looking for a simple cruise control for it. Does anyone have any ideas on an easy/cheap aftermarket add-on? Thanks, Wally.

I have a Throttle Lock on my '01, and it has worked great for 30,000 miles. About 25 bucks if I remember right...

Walley take one of those small 6" bunjee cords and attach one end to the base of your mirror bracket (use black so to blend in). Now wrap it around the throttle (clockwise) a couple of times and attach the end to the base of the mirror bracket. The idea is to apply enough tension to the grip to keep the throttle in any position.

Use this only on the highway when you get into 5th and want to cruise. Detach it as you aproach an exit.

This has worked great for me and cost about $0.50.

I agree...I have used this for long range trips with great success......I have alos used a large 2.5 or 3 inch Oring...and even a red rubber plumbing gasket....just loosly place it between the flange of the grip and the cable housing....to engage it...pull and sandwich it between the housing and grip and viola!....just enough fristion to hold the throttle and yet can easily be overcome by twisting the throttle....all for less thatn a buck......my old 9" piece of 3/16" shock cord has lasted for the last 5,000+ miles....

judjonz turned me on to this over at klr650.net

That is where I got the bunjee throttle lock idea as well.

Great company to deal with.
Prompt shipping, and never the wrong part.
Highly recommended.
Where I scored mine, too.
