campground cost 10$ and a cigar

after dark i rode around town looked like the chicken coop was happening. & i found a parking spot right out front.

Had some supper

I was finishing up as the local man in blue came in looking for the owner of the motorcycle out front.

yea, i was parked right under a no parking sign. No wonder i found the primo spot up front.

The next morning some killer breakfast here

after some more monster texas fish

standing up about 90ty for alittle while sat back down and the gloves i'd slid up under duffell 2 nights ago were under my butt, how i sat down before they blewn away is beyond me. Start trying to check out my other gear & make sure every things 's ok, damn it my fishing poles gone. Trying to remember the last time i saw it. Oh well f*** it i'm not going back.

the next morning i leave out, i gotta tell ya this was one of the best breakfastest of the trip, a truckstop burritto

yea i almost bought one of those hats in the back ground

i pull outta the truck stop north of fort stockton headed towards pecos, i see a big blue cloud right behind the bike. I'm think'n this can't be good. when i pull over

oils pouring out

what i'm trying to say is i have discovered oil in the middle of an oil field

or as bmw kurt said when i posted this on facebook at least it waited till you were in the middle of no where.

Once again i took it all apart put it back together & seeemed to be fixed for the time being.

Someday after i win the lottery, i'm going back to this spot and erect a sign that says "On 5-13 in the year 2013, Red Bud & his motorcycle both took a dump on this site"

into new mexico

rode into the town of carlsbad to walmart only place i could find castro oil

got some oil, wings & watermelon. After lunch i headed SE towards the caverns, turned off on this road it was going towards some hills & looked like somewhere i needed to see.

I was building up some speed & stood up on the pegs & my foot slid off. I tried again, I thought howed i brake the peg off? Stopped & the peg was covered in oil turned around went back to the paved road, topped off the oil. No sign of leak again went to the caverns.

the road into the caverns is pretty cool

passed up a 9 mile loop dirt road tru park, i was afraid oil leak would start again.

When you get to the vistors center & entrance to caverns your on top of a hill and can see for miles it's pretty awsome.

Took quick tour of caverns.

Pulled out my bmw moa anoymous book & decided the closest bmw dealer in el paso tx.

Noticed it was starting to leak alittle again. Was tring to take it apart, when 2 couples starting to leave stop & offer to help. I was having problem getting wrench onto nut, one of the guys had dogbone socket wrench he loaned me. They were trying to get gone so i handed him back wrench & he kept asking sure you don't want to keep it. Told him now that i had it aprt i could get it back together, thanks.

Pretty nice of him.

I wanted to stick around the caverns to see the bats come out at dusk, but with oil leak i figured i better find a bmw shop.

leaving carlsbad caverns to white city

When ya leave white city you go down a pretty cool road tru hills, desert, salt flats (i did not know texas had salt flats) & nobody till ya get to el paso.

I was told no phone service or gas stations, which i wouldn't have thought twice about if hadn't had the the ever reacuring leak.

out here in the middle of no where, i'm thinking that was pretty good of that old boy to offer to leave me his tools. I pass a lady in one of the new vw bugs with the hood up.

Is the motor in the front of these?

U turn., she thinks she was able to get a message to someone but her phone was in & out. She tried mine & it worked, she found out someone was on the way , & away i went.

See the first gas station at 140miles at 141` i hit reserve

Gased up, bought some more oil (2 walmarts in 2 different states in the same day it was just like my wife was with me)

Supper at smokeys bbq, although i was the only gringo there i felt like i was in memphis 6 tv's & 5 were on the grizzlies basket ball game.

Gotta room near the airport, the next morning went looking for the bmw shop.

Saw this guy & wondered how much money i could make juggling at red lights

could i make enough to put gas, opps i mean oil in the bike & beer in me

food for thought

BMW (bring more wallet) shop had filter but didn't have the gaskets & o rings.

Super nice guy, but he said we hardly ever see those bikes. To which i said isn't that one right there on your showroom floor?

Yes we'll we're a new shop...........Anyway homey didn't have what i needed so bought the filter & went off in search of a parts place to see what i can come up with.

The guy was a big help on some roads between there & phoneix. Wish i'd had more time to check them out.

Couldn't find a big enough o ring, bought some stuff to make a gasket, stuff to clean a surface where a gasket goes, socket & ratchet...some other misc...

take it apart one more time

setting on the ashpalt in the el paso sun

studying the hinged filter with a rubber piece on one side and not one on the other side, now put the rubber peice towards the outside where the leak is right?

that's when i didn what i should have done the first time. I called the good folks a boxerworks service 706-310-0699 talked to dean & they saved my ass again, rubber thingy goes towards the motor, metal washer in next, then 2" oring, next the gasket for the housing cover throw that away. Who knew.

put it all back together, go pay for all the goodies i keep going into pepboys and taking out to the bike.

Feeling like a moran I

Hit the superslab out of el paso sometime after 2, ya know i was waiting on the heat of the day.

see some little dust storms they look like alittle fires burning brown smoke.

you can see one about the middle of this picture, to the right of the road

gas up, hydrate & urinate

some 4 lane

some dirt road

back to the 4 lane

finally got off 4lane & onto 70

while i was gassing up talking to the wife, i told her there's a dust storm coming. I rode off straight into the storm.

I went tru the edge of it with tumble weeds blowing arcross the road. Bike was leaning sideways battling the wind.

Rode out of that & into a thunder storm.
