You can talk to ASO without putting yourself out of the race. (Green button if I remember) Blue button to call for assistance for another rider, then the blue button again once you are able to carry on. The red button for assistance for yourself etc. I know Tony (Schattat) will know the sequence. They will call you if you suddenly stop or are stopped for some time. It is only if you press the emergency button that your race is done.
