The to do list for the racebike was 3 single spaced pages at the beginning of last week. It's now down to 1/2 a page, with some big ones crossed off.

Big thanks to C.Vestal for the tireless help. Next post on this thread belongs to him- he's the mastermind of the fairing bracket, and it is coming out absolutely A W E S O M E. So many cool details that he's come up with, to make it better/ tougher/ simpler.

It's amazing how many tiny details go into making a rally bike. For example, I spent the better part of a two hours installing the ICO. What starts as a simple job turns out to be complicated- first, finding a place for the second pickup in the same radius as the stock magnet, then routing the cable including little buffer pads to make sure the zip ties don't crimp the wire, then figuring out how to route the cables through the nav bracket, then figuring out how to route the thumbswitch, each piece getting done and redone until you are finally satisfied. The only thing that is certain is that if it can fail, it will.

Tomorrow will be spent with Ganshert and C.Vestal finalizing some details on the fairing... then the list will be pretty short before I actually make some noise on this thing!

Last update- I spent Thurs/Fri on a BRP fun ride near Crested Butte, and managed to put on 225 miles of singletrack. Work suffered, but my foot did not- best news of the month!

hello Ned,

What are you planning to eat and drink during the long liasions and before/after the stages (out of the bivouac)?

I mean some kind of special drinks and foods...

Neduro, taking delivery of his "parts bike" in CO(delivered from AZ where he bought it as a leftover):

Neduro likes new bikes, if the smile didn't give it away.

Good thing I found this. Your advice and excellent tutorials already saved me quite a bit of money, and even more importantly, I learned tons about the bike. High time to say thank you and return the favour a little!

I am not sure which kind of supporter to become, as I feel a little poor at the moment after a little shopping spree. At least part of that shopping spree was your DVD and suspension manual!

Just want to make sure you won't regret the decision because of financial reasons

Perfect! We've been laughing about calling supporters the Coucho Gauchos, but I like the people's team even better. Maybe some Chairman Mao looking graphics?
That would be the final word in awesomeness.

That sure is a nice "parts bike" orange frame and all.

The real question is did our future Dakar rider get on one of them trials bikes in the picture. Hey Coma rides a Montessa 4RT, I've seen the video.

Can't belive I missed this until now! Things are looking up for winter.

Is there an expiry date set on the discount codes, specifically on the Adventure Spec one?
Don't think I'll be looking to buy any signficant amount of new gear until next year spring/summer time.

Go Ned! I've been keeping up on this thread and now have access to your blog.
I love that this is so local, yet worldwide! Have fun in the Southern Hemisphere.
From winter to summer in January. That will be nice.
Ride hard and enjoy!

Logistics- and an apology- we're not perfect on which orders we've gotten out. At this point most people who ordered before August 15 have their orders on the way, but not everyone, as we ran out of some sizes.

The second round of shirts is coming about 9/20-ish, and we'll get everyone filled ASAP once that happens.

I ordered the first round a long way back, factored up for what I thought was coming, and didn't get the mix of sizes nor number exactly right. So, apologies, all will be filled pretty quick here, but if someone out there is wondering why others are getting their stuff and they haven't, I wanted to put in a word of explanation and apology.

Other news: Headed for the desert tomorrow! First major test of the bike coming, and I promise there will be lots of pics!
