Like others have said you make a great point - I was in Brazil for a month and still couldn't get my head on straight. My advice to Ned: ignore the sun. I had to intentionally force myself just to pretend I was one of those morons that had absolutely no innate sense of direction. Life was better after that.

Go Ned!

Cool seeing this pop up in Cycle World, was really surprising.
Definitely watching closely. Will kick in a 20-spot here and there as I can. With my own racing and the full time school thing, loose cash never shows up in amounts more than $20.
Rock on!

I raced the ISDE in Chile. I was totally aware that I was in the Southern Hemisphere. Directional challenges were never an issue. I always knew which way North was, and never got lost.

Just became a supporter of Neduro as well.

hopefully I can get to see you in South America next January.
but that will not be in your shirt (sorry).
(PS possibility to buy hoodies?, the extended supporter package is of few use for me, so I only get the T-shirt)

take another good test with your Vestal rally kit.
Am liking that rally kit a lot, have been working on my own version, but this looks good and solid.

All this chatter about internal compasses, backwards-spinning inverted holographic sundials, non-linear equinoxic shift, obtuse multi-lobular azumith paths, planetary axial precession, and the like is getting out of hand:

Thanks for bringing us all back to reality. I'm sure Ned will have no trouble, either.

Although, when we go to the dunes in a couple of weeks for "orientation," I'm going to spin him around in one of the big bowls a few times and see just how good HIS internal compass is...heh heh heh...

On that note, does anyone recall if the toilet water really does spin backwards when you flush it down there?

Sure does, and for what it's worth, I wasn't too confused by direction in Australia, although it took a few days...

You need the Euler equations of Motion.

The Coriolis effect is what makes the toilet water spin the direction it does.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line-crossing_ceremony

A very polite discription of the festivties. Plenty of you tube out there as well.

Highjack over...regurlarly scheduled programming will resume shortly.

Give em...Ned!
