The new ride:
Monday 22nd I started a new ride, around 2000km and this time with the Retro.

There was no handlebar kit at the shop when I get my Garmin so I used the support of the previous GPS and I will manage to hold it with rubber bands (...)
There is "two places" on the ride where I prefer to have the GPS to find the road, so I will not use it permanently.

04.22 Novorossiysk/Stavropol - 540km

Initial plan was to stop at Armavir, I went in town then I decided to get back on the main road and to continue...
The weather was not so good with some rain, hopefully not too much trucks in front of me...

04.23 - Stavropol/Elista - 270km

Today, no rain but a very strong wind (face)... Yesterday no time to sleep on the road with a lot of curves, today I should say that in comparison it was a little bit boring with a lot of long long straight lines... sure that with the wind in the back it will have been more funny.

Some pictures on the road and at Elista, Republic of Kalmoukie.

04.24 - Elista/Volgograd - 340km

In fact the distance between the two cities is around 280km but I went to the memorial then back to the center.

Rain for all the ride... and sun in town this evening...

Well tomorrow it's a day "off" and I stay in town.

Friday back on the road to reach Rostov.

Went to the car-wash then at the place of the Bike Show (August 23rd), preparation of the territory already started.

Good to see your nice Ural back on the road.
In the last pictures there is one with a WW2 plane on the roof (Yak?). Is it a museum?

04.26 - Volgograd / Rostov - 553km

6am I left Volgograd and at 4pm I was at the "Bike Post" close to Rostov. Initially I wanted to use the "south" road to join Rostov, but my friends in Volgograd told me that the road was in bad condition, if somebody from Volgograd told you that a road is in bad condition better to listen, they are specialists in Volgograd... (it's really a shame to see how are the roads inside the city :x )
So, I start my day on the "north road", already done in 2011, I wanted something "new" and to avoid the M4 Highway and crossing Rostov.
The weather was ok excepted a strong side - wind, I have overtaken by a bike (VFR), then I met him at a gas station we have a coffee and I told him about the itinerary, luckily we were at Morozovsk just before the junction to Volgodonsk and he told me that this section was ok.
So, we left the gas station, then less than 1km we've been stopped by the police just at the junction (Ural effect...), it was a good day: 3 times I have been stopped by the police, always at the check points.
(Monday once: at the exit of a village by a patrol car, Tuesday once: at a check point, Wednesday: zero, Thursday inside Volgograd: zero, Saturday: zero and Sunday: zero, but a 10mn UDF with two policemen's at a gas station)

Even with the controls it was a nice day, good weather and less wind in the afternoon.

04.27 - Azov , opening of the season.
A local club were organizing the opening of the bike season, in a place near to Azov (30km) on the Azov Sea, from the center town to the place we were escorted by the police (one car to open the road and on at the back to prevent the "intrusion" of cars...)
The neighbour of the Bike Post is teh owner of a K750, we went for a short ride to Rostov.

04.28 - Bataysk/Krasnodar/Novorossiysk - 447km
I was staying, "as usual" at he Kartodrom hotel, but instead of going straight to Novorossiysk I went to Krasnodar HD to collect the original exhaust of my "Slim" (Vance&Hines installed two weeks ago), the others parts ordered are still "on their way"...

Close to Krimsk their is a "short cut", this time I took some pictures:

Yuri's reply today ...

"Privet Tovarish!!!

Thanks you for the links from a forum about travel on southern regions of my Native land.

Specially I have received feelings of nostalgia from photos about Volgograd (Stalingrad) it to me have reminded about cheerful time in the Russian Army and happy day when I would arrive on station Volgograd what to go home.

I wait from you more tempting photos about a motorcycle life and there can be I will find time to come into garage to my friend URAL and too to sweep on it!

Dosvidaniay moi BRAT!!!"

Seems you've shamed him into getting his Ural out at last
