Up River to High Point to Morgue then Hell

Jeff_B lead a ride Sunday with Dave, John and Me. Guess he's too modest to start a thread, so here goes. I'll leave the editing and corrections up to him. After meeting at Randalls http://randalls-restaurant.com/ (fast friendly service and good food) we flanked the Youghiogheny River thru some twisty narrow gage macadam.

Trick shot catching Johns reflection in my helmet, ok, need more practice.

Leaving Ohiopyle

To some overlook where apparently some guy killed his son, Jeff_B planting an omen? Baughmen Overlook, I think.

Jeff waiting for me.

No time for pictures on the bone rattling ride on Fire Tower road, then off to the spillway.

Dave deploying his GS's dust cloaking device he got from Touratec

It really works.

Ok, the high point of the trip was Mt Davis, getting there the dirtiest way possible. Jeff, Dave, and John.

You'd think they'd have service here.

Staged after swarm of bugs leave.

Then off to the morgue for lunch. Really cool place in Meyersdale, prior combination morgue and door manufacturer called MORGUEN TOOLE COMPANY, http://www.morguentoole.com/. Too early for bike nite which starts at 4, we hit the brunch buffet. Now Jeff watching his figure opts for the liter fare with the Green Bowl of Deliousness, Dave, John, and I hit the buffet.

After Morguen, Jeff shows us some dirt. He knows all the roads, even some two rut goat path that, ahemm, is a private drive if approached from the north. I have a new respect for what that swiss army versys can do with a good rider.

Apparently the author of this graffiti is not a dualsport rider, his/her take is "Welcome to Hell", guess its all relative.

Off to Ligonier for a beer and some dinner.

It was a great Sunday ride, want thank Jeff for letting this newbie ride along.

I want to go back and storm that goat path again. I'm surprised nobody is picking rock salt out of their textiles. Somehow we missed the "No Trespassing" sign.

Talking Thanks

Being this was my "adventure" ride on my XR650R, I have to say it was truely awesome. Thanks to Jeff for butting it together and letting this true noob tag along. It was a great to meet Mel and Dave as well, really good guys. I need to get my new rear tire on order pronto so I can do this again.

Who knew you could slide a Versys up a hill on the skid plate if you go fast enough

Well Toal, I'd have to say that Sunday was the acid test for your ass and the XR saddle. You made it through that, so you can handle just about anything. Start looking for a rear rack solution. You need to at least be able to overnight at a cheap motel, and eventually be able to camp off the bike.

Man, I'll have to bring my camera from now on. Not one pic of any of the cute waitresses at any of the three fine dining facilities. I'm crushed.

Guess when he saw you coming he wasn't sure if you were in season:

Nice!

Nice ride report! Always fun seeing where you went and the great guys you went there with! Can't wait until next time.

In fact, gotta go get some sleep. It's off to Bloomsburg for me and my son tomorrow!
