The little GS that could (and does)

Hi all; first post.

Bought my first bike this spring and only realized after I bought it what I really wanted to do on a bike. Explore.

So I make do with what I have; a 1994 Suzuki GS500. This weekend I packed up the bike and headed for Prince Edward Island on my first solo overnight bike trip. I spent the majority if time on back roads and I underestimated how much I would explore Nova Scotia on the way up. I wound up short on time in PEI so I pretty much drove on the island that evening and setup camp.

The next morning on the ferry I happened upon a charity group ride from CFB Halifax who I ended up tagging along with back to the city.

Overall I just wanted to say hello. I might not have my ideal bike yet, but I have the same sense of adventure so I'll take advantage of it with my trusted old Suzuki.

Nova Scotia backcountry.

Although there wasn't much traffic, I saved a small turtle from death by tire and moved him from the middle of the road.

Getting into farmland.

Back on a long, long dirt stretch.

Welcome to the site. Don't worry about the bike, just ride what you've got. You can get a lot of miles and a lot of years out of that bike before you figure out what you really want to replace it. Great pictures.

I plan to go one more season on it as my only bike but the following season I'm looking for a KLR. I'm still keeping this bike for either my wife or future kids.
