Highest mileage 950?

Who's got the highest amount of miles (troublefree or otherwise)?

Curious to how long these bad boys will last before you need new rings, pistones, rods and a crank?

I've got 5000 miles.

What do I win?...

EDIT- I think Craig is in the 70 to 80k range (maybe even higher)...

ask me in 20 years...

Ask me in 20 years when I've had to overhaul it a few times. I bought an '06 with 17,000m. Someday, inevitably it will need piston work. When that day comes I'll be so attached to the bike that I probably won't even blink at the time/cost of overhauling it.

I've got 95,000 MILES on now after getting home last night. Power starting going a bit soft around 85,000 on the trip. Oil looked good and not blowing smoke. I'll do another dyno run in the next week or so to see what it looks like compared to my 75,000 mile pull.

This motor has been riden hard, but taken care of the best of my ability. I'll be pulling in down and swapping in another bench motor when i get some time so I can keep this on the road. I'd like to see what's going on and see what kind of REBUILD upgrades could be offered when they do need a rebuild.

I won't know more until I dig into it more. I'm still a very happy LC8 owner.

Holy crap!

I have a chance to buy a 50,000km dream bike, so that was the only thing putting me off..

New pistons and rings every 75,000 miles....sounds good to me.

There was a very interesting thread here from an inmate who bought an ~ 85,000 mile '04 in pieces and rebuilt it, but he never had to touch the engine. A compression and leakdown showed the engine was fine. I think he put cam chain tensioners in it and that was about it.

These engines can do high miles, no problem.

Too sweet comments above in general

Replaced the engine @ 46000 miles on my -06 SE. Piston ring broken, poor compression and high oil consumption prior to breaking down. I believe it was due to insufficient oil pressure due to air leaks due to poor o-ring @ suction on oil pump. Never saw any red light but but foamy oil in the sight glass. Otherwise well serviced.

Anyway, @ age of 48 and zillions of different bikes, this is my sweetest baby ever and now it's got a new 990 SDR LC8 with carbs and plenty more horses. What a lovely beast. Buy it - service it - its a keeper.

Le Winners

I think Marion And Aurel have us all beat. My French is rather poor ... but I would say they are Le Winners.

According to that blog they are at 125,000 KM = ~78,000 miles

CJ's at 95,000 miles

Anyone know what Antware's is at? I thought his (and maybe CPmodems?) were both over 100K miles? ... but I could be talking outta my arse

Antware is without a doubt over 100,000 miles. Not sure about CPmodem. I hope to punch through 100K this year on my relocation trip to Denver, think I am going to make a detour to Alaska via Key West

Consider how many miles those pistons have traveled up and down. The engine cruises at 4,500 rpm at freeway speeds. Often the engine revs well beyond that. KTMs are great bikes!
