I grew up and live here in Humboldt County and have never seen a rattlesnake on the coast. Even inland a ways they aren't real common compared to some places.

Yep, that was my first Humboldt Co. rattlesnake. Had another rattlesnake first this year. A rattler on snow in Placer Co.

No Snakes for Us !

Made the trip, and it was fabulous. Planning to return in the spring with the dual sports. Here is the funniest thing I've ever seen...cows walking on the beach !

And, a really big tree....

And I have a whole boatload of beach pics....

And flowers....

And birds...

Really didnt get a chance to stop and take in all of the sites, hear are a few on the fly shots. Iam going back in the near future to really check out the area.Cant seen to up load more than one picture,

We were going South to North on the 13th. 650 Dakar, 2003 colors, and a KLX250 (red). We came over Usal, Kings Mountain, and finally the Honeydew to Ferndale stretch. Covered 200 miles on Saturday, and did the route backwards on Sunday. We have a beach house in Gualala.

Question Moar, Please....

We're planning a return trip to LC area, probably mid- May, with the small dualsports (trailering them behind the truck camper). As to camping, we already did the state park thing ($35 a night for a TENT site)...nice camping,: but I would like to avoid doing it again just on general principal regarding the price. So, am looking at AW Way County Park, and Honeydew Creek campground. Problem is, they are small campgrounds, with no reservations, and I would hate to find no room at the inn after driving all the way from Colorado. So, to anyone's best guess, is mid- May a busy time for campgrounds out there?

Next question...we would like to avoid the "farmers"; are we good staying on the roads such as Lighthouse and King's Peak and other established roads in the area, and also for hiking established trails in King Range Nat. area?

Next question....weather....it was fabulous in mid-August! Anybody care to hazard a guess as to how it might be in mid-May?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for any info......
