OK where was I? Ah Hattiesburg on a Saturday night.

We pulled into a motel and got checked in, cleaned up, and ate some pizza. The motel had a bar with a live band playing so we decided to check it out.

If anyone reading this needs a graduate theses in Sociology, go to Hattiesburg Mississippi on Saturday night! Don't forget you heard it here.

The local wildlife was totally amazing. Top quotes of the evening:

" That MotherF^#@er broke up with me with a text message "
From two cute girls, " We don't do Cock! "
From a beautiful blonde "Buuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrpppppp, What?!? "

I did not take any pictures because I didn't want my ass kicked by any local male or female.

We left laughing our ass off and went to sleep.

7/24/11

We woke up still laughing. I went outside and lo and behold I see a portable Mississippi wedding rig.

Truck, Arbor, shotgun, groom= wedding

Hmmmmm, I am glad we left the bar when we did!

We hightailed it out of Hattiesburg before a posse was rounded up and headed toward Chickasawhay Wildlife Area. This morning it wasn't raining, but, it was 90 degrees with 90% humidity. I was hoping for rain, (be careful of what you wish for).

While riding along we came across this...NH thought it could come in handy

This guy was trying for the White Trash award

Tall grass...Check
Junk cars...check
Lazeboy in yard....check
chickens in yard....check
TV in yard....check
dogs under porch, on porch, next to porch......check
porch falling in.....check
That was just the FRONT yard. I always say " you just can't hide money"

Time to get a move on before the wedding truck arrives.

Next up.....

We like Chickasawhay and Desoto NF. The roads are nice, beautiful well managed forests, and very few people. The thing about riding a deep south NF in summer is the weather. If it dry, it is so dusty you can't breath, and the bugs so bad you can't stop. The heat and humidity are brutal when you are used to it, and totally unbearable if your not. When it rains it rains HARD. Ride your bike into the rinse cycle of a car wash and that would be a nice "shower" for us. The trick is to catch the forest roads wet, the sky overcast, and a breeze blowing. If all that comes together, you will have a great ride! This morning we had that kind of weather......for about 45 minutes.

Riding shot

I stated before I had no picture-while-riding experience. Well I can state positively that I cannot ride on loose gravel with one hand and take pictures with the other without major injury!! The one above was Gods way of telling me, I will let you off with this one, but if you try it again... your dead!!
Seriously, I do not know how I did not have a serious get-off screwing around with the camera. As Clint Eastwood said, " A man has got to know his limitations ".

But, I still took more pictures.
Just not while moving

NH cruising

If you have seen this before...stay out of the basement!!

Me coming

Me going

Starting to get wet

This is the beginning of the end...

After this picture all hell broke loose. It rained so hard you could not see the front wheel. I had two tank-slappers in the mud, and we were on top of a hill with lightning popping everywhere. Finally, we reached a paved road and headed away from the worst of it. We ducked back into the forest, and found this...

By now I was hungry, so, I asked NH to route to food. He did, via sand, then back into the storm

I wonder why this is so sandy?

Hmmmm

We then headed to Leakesville Ms for lunch. After lunch we headed right into more storms until..

Sweet Home Alabama
We came to a fork in the road. Straight ahead is a road we both know is full of deep sand and mud for 10 miles, to the left is pavement. Either way leads us home and it raining.

NH- "You want to go straight? "

Me- "Are you friggin CRAZY it is a horrible road on a heavy bike on a good day!!!"

NH- " But it's raining it might be hard packed"

Me- " lets go"

After two miles, the heavens opened in biblical proportions. We somehow slogged through that crap and made it to the other side to pavement. Guess what? It quit raining Really...NOW it quits.

We rode the 30 miles back safely thus ending the ride

All in all it was a great weekend. I got to meet some new ADVers, prove my raingear sux, ride some great roads, help a suicidal rabbit out, see some local wildlife, and laugh with a friend. Awesome!!

The End

Thanks for reading this drivel.

You could have said this in the beginning, and saved me some time. You know I have Dial-up, and pics take forever to download!

Just kidding, Cool Ending!
My rain gear did okay Saturday. Got to get some new bottoms, and something for keeping the feet dry.
