Qld - BIG adv bike day rides
South East Queensland
Im looking at interest from inmates out there on 1200 { big suckers} or similar adv bike. There doesnt seem to be any rides - half or one day rides for the big bikes. Judging on interest Sunday 31/7/11 could be a start then we can go from there. I did a recce ride awhile ago out around Queen Mary Falls, White Swamp Rd and Condamine River R d {lots of water crossings will assess when out there-bikes to heavy and expensive to pickup} post interest and we will see what happens mainly bitumen road ride B2 screwed with this post 07-26-2011 at 01:55 AM |

There are a few of us out there who ride big bikes (R1100GS), but majority of the rides organised on here seem to be more suited for trail bikes.
Last time I organised a weekend ride for big bikes, apart from my 2 mates who helped organise the trip, I got one taker. If people are interested, I will start to organise some tar/dirt road day and weekend trips from Brisbane (guaranteed NO single track or hard trails.)

Luckily, I don`t have to ask anyone if I can go. Depending on our route back, I should do 8000Km or more. It took a few years to set my bike up, but now it makes 1000Km days easy.

It`s some clown pulling out in front of me that`s the worry, Bruce. I`ve got a 7.5 litre (8+ actually) nomad plumbed through the FI return line on mine; gives me 30 litres theorectically, and over 550Km at highway speeds.

So how many K`s are you getting out of the 22ltr tank without the extra? I would have you at around 18km/p/ltr?

That would be absolute tops, although things have improved markedly since I discarded the techlusion fuel module, which the 1100 doesn`t need. I haven`t actually worked out how many K`s as I use the extra tank all the time; remember, there are two litres of fuel or more that hides in the front left of the tank that is difficult to get access to.
