Where did you take that picture? Another sunny day on the "wee" island. I managed to escape with Mrs Bikemad and get a run up the Coast Road, Larne to Portrush the A2. Very little traffic until Bushmills and the Giants Causeway (hurray for visitors) Had lunch in Portstewart and then home via Portglenone. Portbraddon was nice. (Yes that is all of it) |

Great thread people. We need to get more pics like these. It doesn't always rain in Ireland. (Bring waterproofs).
I have a couple of weeks off in September and am planning to take four or five days going from Malin head to Mizen Head via all the coast roads on the west coast. No matter how small. I was feeling that I should piss off over to france for a week or ten days instead but after seeing these pics am all fired up again for this beautiful place I live in. Donegal is twenty minutes ride from me. Slieve League is a particular favourite. For more desolate beauty, head through Glenculombkille and towards Port. It's a dead end wee road that has a small fishing pier and some absolutely feck off cliffs if you walk ten minutes.

Lived in Ireland most of my life and you've just reminded me of the beauty of what's virtually on my own doorstop. Definitely a hard place to beat when the weather is good.

If you are going to up to Malin Head Stay at The White Strand B and B. http://www.whitestrand.net/ Just off the R 242 near the head and with in walking distance from the pub. Mary will look after you and makes great porridge. Went last year with the mate on the bikes. Let slip how good it was when I got home. I had to go back with another mate and our wife’s two weeks later, on the bikes , ah well ![]() This is The Wee House of Malin" is the little cave behind the ruins of the old church. Supposedly the home of a family - there is a saying that no matter how many people enter it holds all that enter it. not far from the B and B. |
