As for swapping the motor, it ain't gonna be easy. See the Helix uses a Vertical cylinder engine, whereas the Chinese Ruckus, Big Ruckus and Reflex use a Horizontal cylinder GY6 engine. Unless your a highly skilled welder and machinist its gonna be a LOT of work.

And about the Big Ruckus's top speed, the quality Honda scooters usually actually have very accurate speedometers. My 86 Elite 150 is dead on confirmed by GPS and Radar, the Helix is I hear, the SH150i is, the Elite 110 is, the Elite 250 is as I hear. BUT I have heard of the Reflex having a bit optimistic speedo, around 7% optimistic. It is possible the BR has a slightly optimistic speedo since it has a more similar design to the Reflex, but it maybe accurate like it's counterparts.

The leg room is fine the seat adjusts pretty far back. It was enough for my 6'3 neighbour to be real comfortable on. He rode it for 2 hours while I rode his helix behind him.

Mine seems like a great runner so far. Easy to spend several hours on without fatigue. The brakes are great as well and at 8k it will do up 60s if it is flat. The Ruckus guys with the gy6s Say you can up the rpms to 9500 and it will be fine. But I am happy to cruise along at 55mph
So I am not messing with it.

Seems like it has great power for surface streets.

The only things I am going to change is the exhaust and jetting and maybe the tires to some enduro style tires and maybe go one size taller with them.

I have been trying to nitpick it but it really has been a great little bike.

Are they what we want? Ive seen college kids bashing around town with 36 packs tied to the back of their Ruckus,other then that I had no idea.
A sub set of PC-800 riders maybe? And theres a Big Ruckus Clone? Its all news to me. Are parts available for Chinese Clones these days?
I could use one to haul my daily shipping load to USPS if it carried enough stuff.

With all due respect, Honda sells stuff that sells. A few hundred BR fans does not make a market they can make money off of.

I will be watching this thread with interest. I do however think that a Ruckus Clone w/150cc engine would be better than a BR clone with the same. I do however understand the need for a larger bike at times.

Why clone the little Ruck... a guy on here did a swap for 700 bucks... that's a deal. The little ruck is a short bike AND not everyone is a tiny tike. I find the little ruck a great bike but it's small, and the BR is big... seems simple doesn't it.

Honda does sell what sells, but every MIC scoot out there is a kick in the balls to honda's bottom line and it's a lost customer. If every one riding a MIC scoot bought a honda instead, the prices would be more affordable... wouldn't they? Let's ask taco bell. When they went to there value menu (if you recall they were the first to offer the 99 cent menu) Their volume went up 400 percent.

More people buying a product allows the maker to buy the parts of that product in a bigger volume and getting a better price. That would make the end product cheaper to produce.

I own many Honda's. And Not every honda buyer gets what they want. Sometimes they get what's CLOSEST to what they want because they are willing to make a sacrifice in desire to the durability of the machine. I would love a PCX 300 but would buy an sh150 as a compromise? (for illustration purposes only) Honda makes many bikes in other markets that they have never tried to market here. (the honda solo and MOTRA are among my fav's). Honda doesn't have a clue as to what WOULD sell here, they only know WHAT sells here and limits OUR consumption. The rest of the world, and the 3rd world for that matter, get's a ton more choices than the usa.

Well..... I had a great little ride this afternoon.. Don't even know how many miles I rode on it. For now I am using a Backpack turned sideways and the back straps slid over the seat back. Seems to work great!! Went and got some different 12volt sockets and ended up being on the bike for 3-4 hours.

The Bike is getting faster as it is breaking in. It will cruise pretty damn nice at 50 all damn day long and enough pipe to get up into the 60's if needed. I Like kicking the r's up a little at lights with the brakes on and taking off a little hot. It is actually pretty quick.....You know...For a scooter. I am sure I'll wear out a belt or two.. It is Getting pretty good milage, it has to be over 70mpg..

As far as the Lil ruckus goes they are just too small for me. I think they are cool and all but I am just too Fat to be comfortable on such a little bike. I have a whole stack of ct70's with all sorts of various engines from 70cc to 150cc china engines and some that can hit way over 70mph with my 230lbs sitting upright. Fun for a bit....But not fun to ride all day long.

This bikes slower than my hopped up ct70's but it has a nice ride and is way more like motorcycle while you ride and you don't squish your nuts when you ride it... Every scooter I test rode even some *out of the price range* stellas and they squished the crap out of me.... Not good when I just had surgery on the guys in FEB.... TMI for some but this Shit adds up here. I needed a bigger comfortable bike.

When I went looking at scooters I had $1500 to spend That was it... Nothing more. I found a few nice honda elite 150cc's and some riva's for about that price but they all needed something, were ragged out and some parts are pricey and in the rivas case hard to find. I Missed out on a nice Helix for $1400 a week after I bought my SSR Rowdy but I have Half of a helix at least!!

After reading clayjars thread I decided to search out a china scooter from a brick and morter dealer that I could get a warranty on.. Thats actually pretty hard to find. Most guys sell the low tier china crap at flea markets and the internets but I knew of one scooter shop that delt with them and he has a very good reputation...

Again... this bike has a 1 year warrenty on it and this guy has held
A rating with the bbb for over 7 years.. I think I will be alright. Hell he has called me to bring it back to take some pics of it at the store and to check it over..

I am just really enjoying the hell out of this bike. I like the look of it, I like the way it feels and yes I wish it had more power . Maybe I will get a wild hair up my ass later this year and put the helix engine into it...Maybe....Maybe not?

I'm glad you're liking it! Look forward to future updates.

Every time Chinese scooters come up there's a contingent of people chiming in with "I had a Chinese scooter for X years and had no problems over Y miles" where X < 5 years and Y < 3000 miles.

I know they really haven't been on the market for very long so we can't exactly have 20 years of comparison, but I'd love to hear from someone that put on 10,000 or more miles. That's where the quality differences will really come in.

Have you ridden one? Almost everyone who modifies a Ruckus puts a lowered seat frame on it - at 6'4"/245 lbs (34" inseam,) the stock layout is a great fit for me. Don't let the overall size of the scooter fool you.

The light weight and great maneuverability of a small machine is a major factor in many peoples' choice to ride a 50cc-size scooter. They're fun for ripping shit up... like a jet ski for the streets. Perfect hooning device. Count me amongst those who don't understand the appeal of a motorcycle-size scooter.
