So far, I'm quite happy with the E-09; I haven't noticed a significant difference in traction on pavement, but I have noticed quite a bit more in mud.

That sounds like a good plan and I've got to start searching for an extra set of wheels and rotors too. Since the E-09's are no longer listed on the Mitas website, I think I'll go with a TKC front and the E-10 rear for next year. I have a set of used Shinko 705's in the shop that I need to wear out first.

Since I haven't generated any interest in the ride I had planned, is there anyone riding tomorrow that wouldn't mind a DRZ with me on it tagging along?

I'm up for any kind of riding, anywhere from gravel roads to trails to anything in between.

I'm not sure yet (might go family camping instead), but NHWoodsRider emailed me about some riding this Sunday? You may want to send him a PM.

Thanks Henry, but I decided I'm taking the DL to Tim Horton's in Magog, QC for a coffee today.

I would've been up for your ride, but I gotta clean the house and mow the lawn and all that other fun stuff... Been putting it off for a while now and the missus gets home tomorrow...

Maybe next weekend if the stars align again.

Good to see you've got your priorities straight! I had a similar list, but added "ride a motorcycle today" to it and that won out.

Next weekend Aug. 20/21 is the CCC of VT 2-Day Ride/ BBQ in Central Vermont. I joined CCC by snail mail and haven't been able to get on the forum or get email updates on rides, so I only know that it starts at "Dick's" wherever the hell that is.

Well, get on with it and stop thinking about food.

I was going to go family camping, and then the plans changed this morning. So, after cleaning the house, mowing the yard, driving to the dump, et cetera, I found myself without spouse and kids, as they went to lunch. I thought I would go and tighten a few bolts on my project bike, and then do a short ride somewhere. Hmm...six hours later I was still in the garage.

It looks like family stuff next weekend, then some visitors the weekend after (both days) - but I'll try to sneak away Saturday 27th, and then I really have to start splitting wood for the winter. Somewhere in between this and the snow I want to do bike camping near Mnt Washington, ride to the Catskills, ride to Boston, do a few more trail rides, ride to Kennebunkport, finish the siding project I started in the spring, and finish my project bike.

Thanks for the info, but can you be a little more specific as to the location or will it be obvious with bikes everywhere? I'm going to try to make it to this ride.

Be there by 9:00 both days. It is a log cabin on the left going south on Rt 100 about 1 mile before Pittsfield Village. You will not see bikes because parking is in the field down by the river. Should be arrows at the end of the driveway.

Translating AOT maps to Garmin GPS

I'm planning on spending a few days exploring the dirt roads, class IV roads, and legal trails of Southern Vermont sometime in the next month. I've been going through all the AOT maps and trying to mark waypoints of where interesting stuff may be, but honestly it's a bit of a crap shoot.

Does anyone have any inside info they would be willing to share? Roads, routes, GPS tracks, etc?

I'm looking for tips on areas to stay away from as well. I'll be on my GS with knobbies and would prefer big bike doable routes.

Thanks GMR, I shouldn't have any trouble finding it now. I'll be on a blue DRZ and wearing a green helmet and gear. Hope to see you there!
