I hate deer!! As most know I hit one back on dec 27th 2009 less than 2 miles from my house on my way to Key West, FL on my Bandit 1250. It was a heard, I split two and nailed the third one. I still don't know how I managed not to crash, hell it was insanely crazy for a few seconds which felt like minutes. I was doing 60 mph and had just hit 6th gear. I literally am not the same since that day. I am totally freaked out by them. Seems I see them all the time now not sure if I'm just more aware or there is just more to see. I topped a hill this past Sunday in Madison county backroad flying on my DR650 and there were 8 of them rats standing in the road. I was locked sideways trying to miss them as the trotted off like nothing was up. They turned and stared at me from the woods edge. I'd a took a few shots at them if I had my pistol with me.

This is the forest rat I killed with the bandit 1250

Poor old bandit, not real bad just a $1000 to fix

More than that to fix my mental state....

Yeah, I can't believe you didn't end up on your head in a ditch after that ... and I REALLY couldn't believe you patched up the bike and proceeded to ride to FL! LOL

That was crazy for sure. Took me a whole day later to get my head back on track. Pack of zip ties, rear hard luggage removal and some old wolfman soft bags made it all possible. One of the best trips I ever made even after all the mayhem up front.

I think back on it and I must have pretended all those deer I was dodging were riders going down in front of me on a track which I had plenty of practice at prior to that day. Track riding does have it's benefits I can attest to that 100%.

I'm with you on track rideing makes you a better rider. You reaction time is faster because you are so close to so many other guys trying to go as fast as they can and thing do go wrong and you have to react with out thinking. I don't advise raceing to everyone but you do see the world around you diffrently once you've done it.

Roy is there anywhere near by that has track days?

Yep, NOLA down near New Orleans is now open and offers trackdays. I am back in the game come next year. Took this year off to vacation with the wife and chill but come this winter that 1000 I got will get some track bodywork on it and we are going back. I really like Barber in Birmingham and lil Talladega but will give NOLA a try next year for sure being it's closer. I miss the track life.

Michelin T-63's mounted up today. I still hate tubes !! CO here I come. I bought the last rear at kickstand even though I still have one on backorder with chaparral who lied about their inventory. Oh well it'll get here sometime.

She looks the business now. I still need to add barkbusters to protect my levers but that's it. Stock gearing is too tall but I don't care just have to go faster

When are you going to CO again, Roy? I'm still planning on taking the Jeep out there next month for a few days.

Aug 4th through 18 but some of that will be at the grand canyon on tail end of the trip.

What pressure are you running in the T63?

On pavement, close to 30. Off road I will drop to 20-25 and I'm happy with that. Some drop into the upper teens, but I've always been happy in low 20's.

Got a few upgrades for the Super Tenere (not good with pictures, so you're going to have to use your imagination)
Got a Kaoko throttle lock, Alt Rider skid plate, and a Garmin Montana. Since yall like tech days we need to have one for GPS's so I can learn how to use it.

PM incoming. I want to see that skid plate in person. It's one of the ones I'm considering.

You fellas need skid plates!

1200GS v. 800XC v. Super Ten v. 990

Don't kill the messenger. I will readily admit that this test seems a little biased towards one of the bikes.

I am not the least bit worried and I got the Yamaha version on my bike and so far it's done what it's suppose to do. They didn't even have that on the bike in the video. All they had was the showroom plastic piece on it. Typical MCN jibberish.

I don't take mine to kill it knowing I have a very healthy DR650 sitting in the shop.
