Quick Jaunt out to Ross Moore Lake
Ross Moore is a fly fishing trout lake about 5km East of Lac la Jeune (fairly close to Kamloops, BC). There are two cabins out on it, accessible by deactivated roads or the lake itself.
A quick synopsis -
I was the only bike going in, in a group of variable 4x4 machines that included a jeep 4x4 monster with low gearing and the right tires and a two wheel drive early 80's Chevy 1/2 ton pick up. This was more of a packing test run for my gear than a real aggressive ride.
We left Kamloops on the old Merrit highway, headed out to Knutsford and turned onto Wier road. Turn right again onto Long Lake road, and you can basically follow it in all the way to the lake. There is a BC Forest Service Rec site on the end of the lake you'll reach doing this, and that's where the roads are no longer maintained. I've seen guys put in here with their boats and paddle/row/motor over to the cabins, but we continue on the deactivated road. Pics to follow.
One can also come in from the Lac la Jeune side, although it's generally muddier and a much rougher ride. The 4x4 beast has had mixed results, and your average truck can't make it in from the Lac la Jeune side depending on time of year.
