About zero or -2'C here, wih a brisk breeze and snow forecast for he weekend.

I have been looking at smaller.... 200cc to 500cc bikes, KLR, DT, XL etc at the moment, because my 1200GS is a big old lump, and sometimes a smaller bike is so much nicer.
This reminded me of just how good SA riding is.

Vasbyt, and enjoy the sunshine .

Welshman, when are you over here again ?
been having loads of rain lately ,,not too much sun .... but still 25 degrees or so

Howzit Grizz, yep the weather is currently great not too warm and the GSV is running nicely, it has been a bit of a kark year, too much work and the GSV giving lots of little issues, Hall Sensor, paralever pivots, final drive bearing, then I stuffed up a drive shaft UJ so all in all just not a great one, I lost a bit of faith in its reliability.
BUT, I took it up to Thabazimbi for an overnighter last weekend it went loverly, all back to normal, but with all the rain the sand patches were pretty vicious so only pottering along at about 80 to 100km/h it was nice, the Crocodile River had burst its banks just outside Thaba and the bushveld is green, very very nice at the moment.

As for me in UK, not sure, I should be in Europe week 2 or 4 of next year, but I am also supposed to be in Lephalala (Ellisras) about the same time and have some VIP visitors coming, so it is a wait and see what happens I guess

It's a different one today from any I have had before, but I have friends and love - what more can anybody ask for on this very special day?

I wish the same for all the Wild Dogs and all of you wonderful guys out there!

Question Moved to Cape Town

Hi all,
I moved to Cape Town about a year ago and after much deliberation sold my KTM 950SM in the UK rather than go through the hassle of importing it. I'm studying at UCT and miss riding terribly! So I've been looking around for bikes here, wow they're crazy expensive! 2nd hand bikes go for more here than new bikes in the UK! I've found a few early 2000 drz400's but they're not road registered, can someone please tell me what I'd need to do to get them road legal? Is it worth the process or should I shell out the extra cash to get something already with number plates, lights, etc.? I'm looking at drz for about R17000 not road legal and R30000 for road legal. Thanks in advance, can't wait to get out on the beautiful roads here...

to be road legal you will need indicators, head lights with dim and bright(i think this is a requirement but open to being corrected maybe u just need dim) ...a hooter and other bits an pieces...probably cheaper to go that route BUT as bikes were not required to be registered at the time if they were not for road use you may have a bit of a nightmare to get it legal and on the system.... buying osmething already on the road means far less hassels.... but comes a lil dearer.... go speak to the ppl at a testing station in yr area to get an idea and also if buying a plated bike make sure its already gone thru roadworthy ...

lovely roads there ....gods country for riding thats for sure

Cheers for the advice, think I'll get along to the testing station first and see what the score is. Can't wait to get out and do some riding along the Garden Route, beautiful roads...
