CW 748 Mill

Finally, yes finally getting around to assembling my CW mill. I have been accumulating these parts for well over a year. Here goes.

Sent the cases to CW to get bored out for the 106mm piston and he painted them.

Loaded all of the bearings back in along with all new seals. Heating the case to accept the crank.

Falicon rod, crank balanced and pin welded.

Massaged transmission with NX650 second and fifth gears. The black gear is the NX650 fifth that I received after I had sent the trans to CW.

All aboard.

I LOVE my new Snap On ring compressor. Notice the case gasket at the rear of the cylinder hole? Six millimeters were milled away.

Piston crown has been milled down to reduce the compression ratio to combat knocking since not all of us are running race gas.

On goes the cylinder.

Copper head gasket.

Big fin head, ported 'n polished, BIG valves, spring kit with Ti keepers and the CW combustion chamber magic.

On goes the head.

Big ass cam vs OE

Only to find my original cam chain has stretched some. Crap.

Here's a trick for you. You know when you do an oil service and you change the oil filter that stupid little spring behind the filter is a PITA.

FIXED!!!

So here I am waiting for a new cam chain to arrive.

To be continued.

Ok - admiting my own flaw here....

Rings 3,4,& 5 as they are stacked in this image (the "perforated" ring and the two that seat on each side of it), I can't seem to get them in the appropriate groove. Any trick to getting them placed??????

No - in the image it is part "2" - what the diagram doesn't really show is that part "2" is actually five piston rings.
