Santa Fe

We came back into civilization proper on our way to Villanueva St. Park Southeast of Santa Fe. There was crappy, crappy traffic on hot, new asphalt. But after 20 minutes it returned back to regular traffic and we didn't melt like I feared we might.
Big buffet lunch at La Fonda then back on track towards the Pecos River

It was nice to be under the half full moon

and the temps felt great since I went for a swim and kept my wet t-shir on to evaporate and cool me.

More Villanueva St. PARK

I started worring about gas again, but then just used my spare 30 oz container and it pretty much topped me off before the big ride across those mongolia-like sections just west of Vaughn New Mexico.

I really like this park and I enjoyed swimming in the river. I did get woken up at 2:00am by I am guessing a Badger? I am pretty good with critters and I knew it wasn't a tasmanian devil, given my location, but that's what it sounded like. It was telling me or a racoon to stay the "f" off his turf.

....... and this guy

So, just when I am starting to think I am pretty special, a bicyclist on a recumbant bike comes zipping by. He's got a long way to go...wherever he's going.

Since we had nothing better to do we

Switched bikes and helmet just to see what it was like. So the photo is Richard on my bike in my helmet. I have ridden Bmw f650, Klr, DRz, YZ250, BMW1200rt, and even if I won the lottery, my favorite bike would still be the humble dr650. It is not only because of my short inseam; It just feels the most versitile and tactile as far as how I feel the ground through the machine wether on pavement or dirt. Richard said my helmet smelled funny. Well, my wife likes the way I smell.
