I got a HTC G2 last December as a free replacement/upgrade through T-Mobile. I like the features but there are a few really annoying things about it. First, when accessing the web or using GPS, the battery gets really, really hot. Second, the battery life is piss poor when doing any of the above. Last, the stupid thing shuts itself off, even when fully charged, without warning. The latest OS update was supposed to fix this, but the problem persists. Aside from all of this, I like the phone, but it could obviously be much better.

I just picked up an HTC Inspire a couple days ago after having an Iphone for a couple years. Never really liked all the proprietary crap with the iphone and wanted more freedom. I really like the android but the signal strength of the Inspire sucks. So I'm going to get something else that is hopefully better,,,, any suggestions??

I had one of those and.sometimes I wish I still had it!!
I'm not the type that needs the fastest. Most of the places I get to don't even have 3G availible. Just want something that will hold the connection when I'm standing on my back deck looking at the cell tower a mile away.

I'm posting with a HTC HD 2 which I purchased last year in July. It came with Winmo 6.5, and by Nov, I had it rooted and loaded with Android. It took about 3 ROMs before I ended up with a solid build of 2.2 with HTC sense. I love this phone! It's 4.3" screen and 1 GHz snap dragon processor keep it pretty current, even by todays standards. I bought an Otterbox case for it, so I have a neat ruggedized advphone now.. Don't even want an iPhone at all anymore.
PS. I had the phone on tmo, but now it's on myfamilymobile.com through Walmart. Unlimited talk & text for $45 pm, $70 for two phones. You buy the data as you go, and it doesn't expire. No contract and this service uses tmo's towers. I have been on it all summer, no complaints..

I have been happy with my Droid X on Verizon. I have great coverage here in Colorado Springs. Every area has good and bad spots with each network. Ask around (not the people selling phones) about what provider they like. Delivery people are good ones to ask. If you have a Costco membership, they have good deals on phones. I have heard similar things with the HTC HD2 that scootertrash posted. |

anybody run the speedtest.net app on their 4g phone? i ran it on my 3g phone and got 175kbps download and 81kbps upload in 3g mode and 7.9mbps down and 1mbps up in wifi.
the reason i ask - I'm a really cheap bastard and i'm paying $27 a month for unlimited data phone and $41 a month for home internet. if i can get 4g unlimited [phone plus hotspot thingy] for less than $68 a month, i'll consider it if its fast enough. then i can cancel the home internet. and have one less bill to pay monthly.

Do tell... I am thinking of trading my Inspire 4g for either the Galaxy S2 or the next Nexus (with Ice Cream Sandwich) in November. However, due to my work's network restrictions, I may be forced into another iPhone. They are good phones as well, so I wouldn't be upset... I just like the new stuff Android is putting out.

Kids had angry birds on it before I even got home from work today. ![]() I've got most of the apps that I had on the tablet I bought a few months ago that I gave to the wife when I didn't like it loaded up now, and have all my emails and contacts from my old work phone figured out. Exploring the app world for anything new and interesting. I give it a week before I decide I should go ahead and root it and get that dang wifi hotspot thingamajig working.
