Wicked Rockin Colorado & West Fest, Spectacular-Epic-Extreme

Wow! Wow! Wow!

What a rockin trip.
The best yet.
3 of us left Ontario Canada July 17 6am truck, trailer, & 3 bikes to ride Colorado & Moab/Utah.
Initial destination was Buena Vista Colorado. With one overnite we arrived 10 pm Tues Nite.
Weekend coming was the ADvrider West Fest rally. Great chance to meet up with some western ADV bretheren to share the pashion of the ride.
1st day Wed. BobM, Flea Biker, & Rockin Rollin attempted some acclimatization via 4 Colorado High passes: Hancock, Tomichi, Cumberland & Tin Cup.
It was the start of a dream come true! 16 awsome days followed.
We took over 5000 pictures between the 3 of us.
It's taken a week to get the number down to just 2200.
I will post the best and they are better by the day.
Enjoy!

Leaving Mississauga Ontario.

The georgeous wild flowers were spectacular as were the Vistas.

Alpine tunnel trail.

We had such an awsome 1st day we were worried it might be hard to top.
Well it just kept gettin better & so do the pics!
Stay tuned,

Eek Mount Antero

Day 2
Today we got high on Mount Antero, no not that kind of high! It's the tenth highest peak in Colorado, with an elevation of 14269 feet.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Antero
Spectacular!

My New desktop wallpaper

Met up with some fellow ADVers on the way up, all here early for West Fest. 3 are in the backgound of this Pic.
We met Mike from Nevada. Ion from North Dakota, can't remember name of 3rd in back??? We also met ADVers Joe & Jenn. A married Colorado couple sharing the passion of the ride & the mountain.

A the Top we got rain, sleet & major wind. We were pretty winded ourselves at the 142679 ft altitude.
Specially as we are coming from only 200ft.

Spectacular! Again we were left with a feeling: "Wow! can it get any better than this"?
Next: West Fest & Knarly Colorado single track.

Thumb

Thanks Guys

Day 4
This was the Saturday of West Fest
Pablo Was leading a ride to American Flag mountain.
I had seen a previously posted pic of him on it, looked awsome so I was excited to go.
The group was split into 2. The one group was more the larger Dual sport bikes and was led by Geek, a fellow Canuk eh, who moved to Colorado. Smart guy! I'm jealous, you hoser!
My group Was all street plated dirt bikesled by Pablo with Co-leader AZMike, and Stu as sweep.
We did some really fun single track once we got out to Taylor park.
Unfortunately one of our Group, Ferrel had a spill and severely bent his thumb back. Ouch! It was too painful to ride and so he had to go back. His son Will, accompanied him. How is the thumb now Ferrel?
These first pics are where we met up with the other group. We all did some more single track together, then got to Some fairly knarly double track and bit easier run to the bottom of Am Flag mountain. The run to the top was a blast. Hold er WFO & hang on as the back end kicks around trying to find grip on all the loose rocks on the way up.
I could notice engine performance lessened considerably as we gained altitude, although my breathing increased considerably.

Ion & Joe

AZMike, David

David,?,?,Geek (I mentioned He's Canadian Eh!)

Ion, AZMike, Stu, Pablo,

On top of American flag mountain. Cool!

Rockin on!

Poser

Joe, Geek, Rockin Rollin

On Our Way to the Lily Pond single track.

Happy Fella!

Lily Pond single track. Awsome! Rocks, Knarly, Technical, Rocky, Sweeping, Berms, Rocks, Up & Down, Climbing, Rocks, Rocky, & a water crossing.
Pablo let me take the lead thru this one. I zip off & Ion immediatly tears off after me. Well we be rippin! (thats me on the left) Fun? Oh ya! & Ion on my ass with his nimble 250 finally passes me at one point later on when I got held up by some riders we Caught up to. A guy was having trouble getting up a hill, I stop & Ion goes flying by on the right & launches up & off this 6 ft boulder wall. He's a crazy fella with big Testicular fortitude. WooHoo, you go Dude!

& a really fun water crossing.

Pablo

That was one of the most fun single track I have ever done! Thanks Pablo!
The "Lily Pond"

Stu, overlooking Cottonwood pass on the way Back to Buena Vista & West Fest.

It was a great day! & not done yet.
More pics of this day on the West Fest pics Thread http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=491970

Next: I'm a winner at West Fest

Farrell Ceasar broke his thumb and it required surgery. He hasn't posted much since WF. Drop him a PM and wish him well.

Once again, it was great riding with you Rolan. You win the "Most Enthusiastic" award. Come back soon. I've got more trails for you.

Talking I'm a Winner!

Saturday nite Was West Fest Party Nite.
Great people, great food, great beer, & GREAT PRIZES! Ya Maan!
Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me but there are plenty of pics on the West Fest picture thread.
Oggie entertained with his denoobing and as usual a guy ended up wearing a dress. At least it wasn't me this time. I don't look good in a dress.
Then they started the draw for prizes. Wow there were a lot of prizes. Anyway my number wasn't comin up & it was just about done.
I was getting tired listening anymore when my subconscious gave me a kick inside my head as I heard last call for xxxx & Woh!!! MY NuMBER!!!
Well... an awsome Wolfman tank bag. Perfect size for the Husi. Ya Maan!
Thank you Wolfman, Thank you, thank you, thank you.
My tail bag had just bounced apart at the seams & was garbage and I was now having to carry everything in my back. So now the heaviest stuff was off my back.
Check it out.

I dunno about some of that single track stuff......too "ADV" for me. LOL But Roland my man, you are truly living the high life. It's only a matter of time before you're the subject of a beer commercial.
