Our motel in Radisson

A little pricey but you don't have many options. There is a campgrounds in town,we decided to splurge and sleep inside for a change.

The Bay

After passing the town of Chisasibi the road turns to dirt. Look for the sign to the Fort George Island Barge on the left. It is two left turns and then go straight at the third sign and not to the barge to reach this spot on the bay. The last barge sign takes you to the barge access on the river.

NIce boat construction

Not much seating in these boats so I am guessing they are used to carry supplies.

These stacked stone figures were used by the native people in various ways. This one is outside the gift shop across from the Hydro Quebec employee center. It's used to point you to where the "memory gifts" are.

There were several of these along the JBR. Not originals, but still a way to pass the time while on the road.

We ate several meals at the hotel retaurant while in Radisson. Mine were all good. Pizza, breakfast, and Poutiene Italianne.

We meet Marcoue

When we were at the boats at James Bay a loaded GSA pulled in. We had a nice conversation with Marcoue from Montreal. We would cross paths again. Nice to meet you Marc.

We got word Tues mid-day that MaxBet got home OK. We were very happy to hear that he is with his family now. But we miss him on this ride. This was his idea to ride the James Bay Rd. and now we are doing it without him.

If you go to Radisson go to the Post Office in the Hydro Quebec building and talk to this girl. We learned more about Radisson from her than we did at the Info Center. One funny fact---last school year there was one student in the high school, 9 thru 12.

Enjoying the ride report.

I've noticed that in most RRs, when people comment that the flop is pricey, they never say what the cost is. That info would be helpful to others planning to ride that way. Especially when it's the only flop in town.

What do they get for a room in Radisson?
