Chowan Wildlife Management Area

Took a ride down to NC this morning and found this place, not much info at the entrance. I took a ride to the dead end at the south end by 13, totally deserted. It was 1100 on a Tuesday though.

What are the rules/regulations, can't find much info on it.

Also, saw a bunch of dump trucks running up and down Sandbank Rd (think that's what it was called), what are they up to?

Some information

I ride Sand Banks Road often. However, have not ventured off-road in this area. I rode those paths 30-40 years ago on 4X4's, and spent nearly every Sunday water-skiing in that area of the Chowan, but have not given them much thought since. Your post got my curiosity up. This area is designated as NC Gamelands. Check the following links.
Map - http://www.ncwildlife.org/Portals/0/...owan_Swamp.pdf
Rules - http://www.ncwildlife.org/Portals/0/...Game_Lands.pdf

As this area is public hunting land, I will probably steer clear til after hunting season.

The dump trucks are hauling sand for the Hwy. 13 widening project. Be careful, they leak. Sunday is about the only day to avoid them lately.

I live off of 13, near Whaleyville. I pretty much keep the V-Strom on pavement, but like to take the DR350 off the beaten path. Give me a shout sometimes, if you are looking for a riding partner.

Take Care,
Heath

Cool, thanks, that's what I was looking for but my Google skills were lacking. Looks like you can park and explore around on foot.

I was also looking for the weapon rules as I didn't want to get on the wrong side of the law.
