folks in the Knoxville area: how is riding in the winter? I'm moving up there towards the end of Dec. How often can you ride in Jan and Feb?

Depends, I live in Johnson City which is northeast of Knoxville. Some winters I ride every month, last two winters have had more snow than previous four winters.
It also depends on what kind of riding you want to do. Off road, all winter. Street riding is limited by snow, temperature and above all for me SALT!
Dual sporting could be done all winter with right tires, and access to dirt/gravel roads as those wont be salted.
Where I live, the roads I like best are at altitude, so temps are cooler, snow is more often and salt, sand, gravel are used more often.
I have to alter my riding staying a lower altitudes.
Winter is coming soon, we will see what old man winter brings this year.

Be alert on the shady side of the roads on cold days. You can be surprised.

Yep, I live in K-town. We generally get at least 1 decent day (upper 40's - 50's) every winter month for riding. If you're game in colder weather have at it, roads don't usually have too much salt/sand on them.

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.
