A nice Christmas present to me would be to see Moin in Lahore!

Well done Brother. It was difficult and challenging, you did it.

Very happy to hear the good news! I hope you are in Lahore by now and too busy celebrating the completion of this incredible journey with your family to give us an update. I look forward to reading one sometime soon and hearing about their reaction when that badass battle-scarred CBR rolled up to their front door!

Great to see you made it man. Would love to see some photos or videos from the end of your trip, perhaps also the reception you got when you made it home.

Mubarak Moin!!! Words can't describe how happy I am at the successful completion of your journey. I just returned from Pakistan on New Years Eve myself. Looks like we were about 4hrs apart after you arrived in Lahore. Let's meet up for sure after you return to SF. I am there for work often.

BTW I hope you plan to ship the bike back to SF instead of selling it there. It is a part of you now.

Here's the most interesting part (for you lazy folks)

Quote:
On the topic of things he despises, Khan confesses that he detests touring. “I hate travelling. It’s not one of my passions. However, meeting new people is.” That may very well be the reason that Khan is not one to beam cheesily in front of the Eiffel Tower for a Facebook profile picture. During his travels, the biker deliberately avoided famous locales and preferred sticking to the road and gas stations. “I steered clear of all the popular tourist spots and searched for interesting people instead. For instance, some of the beggars in Rome had some remarkable stories to share,” Khan says.
[...]

Additionally, his next agenda includes training women to become bikers. “Despite women being respected more in Pakistan, they don’t have as much freedom as they should,” notes Khan. [...]
For now, the plan is to teach five willing and daring women from any strata or age to ride across the country. “It’s open to aunties, daadi maas, sasu maas,” smiles Khan. The only requirement is that they must know how to drive a manual car. One of the first girls chosen out of the five women is Khan’s sister; “I’d rather try this out on my own sister before I test it out on anyone else’s sister.”
Great stuff, looking forward to hear and see more about that.

Moin, do you have some pics of your trip through Iran and Pakistan you could share? I guess most of us here are desperate to see some pixels of these rather unknown biking countries.

Good to hear you've made it and already pushing on, on a different agenda

I've been secretly lurking in this report for some time and I must say ranks as one of the most interesting ones for me, since I have a polarized soft spot for Pakistan.

I really find Pakistan an interesting multicultural country, North-Pakistan's Karakoram range ranks one of my favourite places in the World, the Sufi and Ismaili people are truly friendly up there in the mountains. I didn't like the south part, the hot and humid plains, didn't feel safe there, got a reality-check in Lahore when bombs blasted off in Sufi shrines just a few days before our planned visit of the same place killing a lot of people, our chance of a lifetime to hear live qawwali that I had been waiting for years didn't feel like an issue anymore.

But then again maybe it's the contrast that inspires me - definitely want to visit Pakistain again someday and keeping my fingers crossed that all sorts of human, gender and religious tolerances improve there. With an idea of getting Paki women into motorcycling - my hats off to you Moin, you're a living proof that Pakistan is working on it.
