To all Happy Thanksgiving.

Big Man, who are you cooking for? If you have that big of a family, I'll be there next year. You'll never notice an extra person. Here I am trying to justify a large 4'x6' smoke chamber and I see that you have two BIG smoke trailers. WOW!

For those guys that are sitting on the sidelines.........
I did a bone head and ordered the wrong rack for my L. I called Mike and told him what I had done.

Mike told me to send him back the part I ordered, send in the the additional $ needed and he would have it out next week.

Easy to deal with, great quality. I am looking forward to getting the rack installed and riding the L.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I like the last picture shown with the struts mounted much lower on the frame. If it's possible to bolt on the struts to a thicker part of the frame, I think it will eliminate most any chance of subframe failure from top load.

The current set up on spud's bike seems very good as is (and is even very similar to patricks bike that went around africa) so I'm sure it's strong, but it does have a more of a chance of frame failure being mounted so high on the subframe. Reason I say this is from my post gussets fram failure. See pictures below.

The weak points simply moved down the frame below the gussets. It broken in 1 spot and cracked in 2 others.

This picture shows the current fixes to the frame cracks/break.

Hope this helps

Hope all you guys got plenty to eat today

Hi Mike thanks for stopping by, I agree with you bout spuds design
as a rack manufacturer i see the problem maybe different than you guys , for the ultimate strength the strut has to go all the way to the blinker mount hole, or am i missing something, you still have bout 4 inches of thin wall tubing cantilevered out the backend of the bike without anything underneath it to support the rack and load

Well....want my advise..the ONLY place to brace the rear subframe from,,,so as not to just cause a fracture at another small tube farther down the line.............is to start at the swingarm bolt.then work your way up,,those bolt on braces we saw on the XRL forum aren`t a bad idea,,but bolting them too that little tube where the passenger pegs go isn`t going to help,,except break that f`in tube,,if they went down that tube,,,and started at the swingarm bolt you`d actually get some real strength,,just need a longer swingarm bolt too.......any other starting point just breaks the tube at a different spot,,the whole back section of the frame,,,all of it,,is too small to hold any decent weight...

Now,,send me beer,,i`m getting low..i think best drunk,IIRC..

that's a great idea how long ya been holding that one beer Shipping is 2 high up there
Ya know the XRL has got a bad rep for this frame thing , all input is gonna be needed to get it right , i spoke with a few guys today and we all agree that the numbers are big enough to sell them at a very low price to really help all here, I bet it could have helped Michael Brat and he would spent the money to get a set and not have had to do what he did with all that welding crap, well we can do this together, so get on board OK, I am IN and i hope we all can contribute something to this and go down in history with frame and glory
now i gotta buy another XRL
