Update
Ok, the install is done - and no, it doesn't take typically take me 8 days to install a pair of shocks on a bike... I got distracted by a lot of beer along the way
. Plus, I changed the oil, installed a new battery, adjusted the valves, changed the final drive oil, and greased the sidestand. That has GOT to be an 8-day job! Oh yeah, I built a new clutch cable for an old KDX200 in there sometime as well.Anyway, took the White Elephant for a little 45 mile rip this morning on pavement/gravel/dirt/sand/more pavement. First impression is a pair of words I haven't used (or resembled) since I was in my 20's - firm and smooth. Corners happen better and faster with a nice firm ride that is not harsh or stuttery. Dirt road whoops are very well dealt with (for a 525 lb bike, anyway ;-). All of this is with the rear preload backed off to minimum, leaving me with room to preload for the wife and all 50 lbs of her shit! I love it - thanks Shock Fairy!!

The shock faerie found the Monkeyranch. Woo Hoo!! new Boingers for the Battlestar.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It didn't even take eight days to get it done. Biggest pain in the butt was having to remove the Engine protection cage and the lower rear shock bolt was a bastard. Thanks Sasquatch!!!

125 mile test ride is in the books. Two up with minimal extra crap. Why didn't I do this upgrade sooner? Noticeable difference in ride and handling. The bike stays planted in the corners and doesn't wallow and wander around. When you hit a bump it absorbs it and you don't feel it three times like before. I hit a piece of sunken pavement last night and launched us airborn, Other than scaring the shit out of Monkeywife the launch and landing were supple and totally controllable.
Two words describe these shocks....."Altar Boy!".
