Thank you.

Id like to say thank you not just from myself, but from all the inmates that did the rally to all of you that followed our progress. It really means a lot to us. Also thanks to everyone who helped me before and during the rally, without you this little adventure wouldnt have happened.
This was my first international rallye and I had a blast. My intention was just to finish regardless of standings and I managed to do that. I feel very fortunate and content with my result.
I picked up many penalties during the rally including 8hrs on the first day for missing two secret cps.
Day three my bike broke down after reaching cp3 and the organisation had to recover me and the bike. More penaties. Got the bike going again that night, only to break down again day four 2kms from the start in the dunes. A tuareg kid shows up and we push my bike out of the dunes, yes push it out of the dunes. Cant say I would ever recommend pushing a bike out of the dunes to anybody. Push it to a road where a passing biker tows me 25kms back to the bivouac. Max time for the day plus 8hrs penalties. Diagnose the problem that day as the "bobina" or ignition sparkplug cap. That same day four another guy "Sanne" from our team seizes his wr450 in the dunes an very generously loans me his "bobina".
Day 5 the dune race, the pre starter doesnt call me to my start row and when I try to move forward he stops me, eventually start 10 mins after I should have, miss the cp finish by three minutes, get another two hour penalty, I protest it and get declined with the reply that it was my responsibility to be on my start row on time. Lesson learned,
hey its my first rallye what do I know?
Day six and seven go off without incident and the bike is running really well. Im also starting to understand this whole GPS thing and not just following other riders that may or may not be in my class and therefore route.
Day eight was a nice liason along the coast in Spain and then a short 2.5 km special down a dry river bed to the beach.
This was an amazing experience for me and a very well organized rally and support team that I used. It surpassed all my expectations and then some. For anyone out there wanting to do their first rally, I think that this one should be seriously considered, its a very doable rally and I think great value for money.
Did I mention I broke my ring finger on day one, twenty minutes into the first special, I go down while trying to cross a dry river bed shortly before the first secret cp. The bike lands on top of me and guess what breaks my finger?? the barkbuster!! how ironic.
Hey guys, thanks for following along again,
Now get out there and "go rally"
Brent.

I will give you a hint and it ends in r _ p l _ c _ you can buy a vowel.

Albania or Sardinia, the rally calendar is killing me so many choices.

Am thinking of going to the talk next week with toby and Stan etc.

Just join us in Albania, EAO can arrange all the service for UK participants as well. Sardinia you need fim license Albania not. But the biggest advantage is that you dont need the stuff I learned you about GPS as Albania rally is just roadbook and no waypoints!

See you there!!

Please please please tell me it's not a 450 r_pl_c_!! I would be extremely jealous
You know Chris Barwick bought the 690 RR off Chris that was fastest Brit..awesome bikes, but verrrrry lumpy bikes for the technical or soft stuff! Patsy is gonna ride the 690 RR for Heroes this year as a blast from the past.

I always fancied getting a 660 and 690 as toys for the garage... but it's gotta be the 450 for racing, emailed a dutch guy this week about one, too!

So, any pics or details then?!

Why EAO of course, great equipment, people, food, mechanics, and having 6 out of the top ten in moto profi doesnt hurt either. Great value too.
There certainly are diadvantages to living on this side of the pond. Im so jealous of you guys getting to pick which and how many European rallies youll be doing this season.

Could always buy a rally bike and leave it in europe with a service team .. Patsy does bike hosting and arranges shipping to any rallies if she isn't supporting. A few North Americans and Kiwi's hold bikes at her place and then just fly in/out for rallies...

No excuses now Brent! Florida has the cheapest flights to Europe!

See you for the next one!
