Love them both for these two different reasons.

I find little if any difference in the tenor and tone of posters on either site.

As someone else commented, you get out what you put in.
+1 on the ktmtalk = dirtbikes advrider = adventure bikes..

ktmtalk is a bit on the restrictive side...but I've still managed to make some great friends & gather some valuable info..

Agreed.

There is probably more here for the LC8 than there, but waaaaay more there for single cylinder KTMs than probably anywhere.

Knowing how to google search it brings up a huge wealth of knowledge.

I had a 98 250exc and the kickstart lever quit engaging during a ride. A search brought up the fix and part numbers.

It used to be the forum that I spent the most time at, but things changed. For me, the thing that turned me off the most was when Ned and company went to Baja on the 950. Instead of posts of support, they were dismissed.

I don't mind the changes made to the Flea Market over there. The owner (Pat) is trying to cover his costs and possibly even make a little money there. I don't have a problem with that.

Bought a new 350 EXC-F recently. I've found KTM talk to be very useful. There's a great write-up over there on setting this bike up.

Well I heard KTMtalk was a great site, but I refuse to pay for an email just to join. That may have change but

if you pay for internet your provider most likely will give you several emails.

KTMtalk is great for rfs and other single engines. Nothing for 950.

Hey, can I type Hyde here without getting a warning? Yeah moderation is a little heavy handed and there's not much going on in the Big Boys forum, but that place is the best online source for 2T, RFS and RC4 info. They've got some top engine and suspension guys as regular participating members, and most everybody is helpful.

AFAIAC, the biggest issue is they've currently locked out the google web crawlers. Poor move as far as being able to search through their data using google.

As far as no noob posting in the classified section. Each website takes different measures to protect the members from unscrupulous activities from outside. I've seen plenty of threads on the interweb concerning members that were scammed from a 1 post member that got in an took advantage of them. The staff is unable to watch every single thread to twart those activities. Automatic setting have to be implemented.

You appear to have a reading comprehension issue if that is what you took from my post.
Cheers!

That used to be the only way to search it. When I joined, their '205', was 'did you do a search,' followed by an example of how to google that term on the board.

It is a shame that you cannot google search KTMtalk, as that really is the only way to get some of the best information. It used to amaze me the things I found when I was repairing my 98-250 exc. Frequently, someone not only documented the how-to, but included photos and special tools or substitute parts that worked better.

I know the guy that distributes Hyde in the US and was working on a project when that whole thing came up. It was interesting to hear his side and then see what was posted on the forum.

One moderator in particular "demanded" that Hyde answer to all the issues on the forum, instead of via email/phone with the actual customers. KTMtalk turned that molehill into a mountain. Very poorly handled by them.
