Cute road name, one I'd never noticed in all my trips up and down the Parkway:

Now I know why - I'm parked on Goa Way:

It's somebody's driveway.

It's not marked, and I'm new to running around with a GPS on the RK, so didn't know 'til today of the catchy road name.

I took a photo for posterity, then goa'd on my way.

Lots and lots and lots of scoots plying the Parkway today:

Kinda unusual to see Harley riders wearing full-face lids.

Could hear this guy long before I saw him:

Sounded nice. Four-into-one with a Kerker, I'm guessing.

This photo fought me a little. This is the steepest pavement I've ever ridden, and that's the edge of the Parkway that you can't see up above:

This is the junction of the Parkway and Mahogany Rock Road, which intersects the BRP at exactly MM 234. I'm guessing the grade is 20% or more.

EDIT: I just did some sniffing around the 'net and found several bicycling sites listing Mahogany Rock Rd. at 18%. We had a marked 17% grade very near our old home in California, and it sure seems to me like Mahogany Rock is a lot steeper. Can't imagine climbing it on a bicycle - heck, the Road King barely made it up!!

Gracias, amigo. :-)

Nah, I didn't goa down Goa Way - it looks like someone's driveway, or several someones' driveway, perhaps, and I wasn't about to venture forth wondering if I'd be harshing someone's quiet little Blue Ridge gig. I'll check it out on one of my state atlases and see if I can determine if it's actually a road and not a driveway.

A few more pix from yesterday to post up, maybe tonight after the "w" word...

I scooted to the beer and brats thing they had at Chateau Morrisette yesterday. Pretty big turnout FWIW.

It didn't happen without pix.

Bummer, sorry I missed you. Denise wanted to stay home and knock out a project, and I hadn't been south on the Parkway for awhile so I decided to head that direction. Me 'n D have been doing the winery probably a couple of times a month this summer, usually on Sundays when the w*rk runs out here at home.

So: Got pix???

I brought my camera but it remained under my seat. It was pretty full under the tent. Is there usually such a big turnout for the Sunday music thing? It's been 2 years since I've been.
