I brought my camera but it remained under my seat. It was pretty full under the tent. Is there usually such a big turnout for the Sunday music thing? It's been 2 years since I've been.

Yeah, usually a pretty good crowd, never too many, just enough to be interesting. Sounds like Sunday was a super-sized affair there.

Do you know where the Woodberry Inn is? It's a couple minutes south of the winery, just off the Parkway on the east side. Nice folks, friendly bar. No live music unfortunately, and if ya wanna watch the big screen, ya better like golf.

I've been by it but never stopped in. I'll have to change that. A co worker stayed there this spring and gave it a nice review.

Anyway, I'll say it again, I'm glad you are sharing our part of the world with the rest of the world again.

Hey Vinbowie, thanks for the shout out, and you're welcome. Floyd's a very cool place, with a very unusual (in a good way) vibe.

If you're diggin' the music I've posted, and lusting about living in Floyd, I'm thinkin' you need to make a trip down here to FloydFest:

Baptist churches are common around these parts, but you don't often see them "competing" like this:

JB2 might remember stopping here for photos on our first trip together up the Parkway.

I stopped at the Blue Ridge Music Center on the way home. They have live old-time music in the breezeway on the weekends.

This is a first for me.

Old-time music is lively, makes you smile and tap your feet, and has the same effect on the musicians. Not so today. I've never witnessed a group of old-time musicians with so little passion before. Granted, it was late in the day, but still...

I love shooting candid portraits, especially when the lighting is so good. I'm unhappy with the following photos, but only because the performers seem so unhappy! I don't have an explanation as to why.
