Sure did. It's a real pain in the arse to get an allen key in there to tighten the screws.

and now the fuel pump?

I know others have made the swap without issue, so it could just be me being an idiot.

Knowing what I do now, I wouldn't have bothered with the in-tank filter, which would simplify things a lot. I have the 3095 filter where the quick-disconnect was. No need for the stock filter now.

I have lifted my tank and removed the pump insert housing, it doesn't come out all the way though, and it seems difficult to work on the pump. it almost feels like the wiring and piping might snap off?

The Q is, once the plastic pump housing insert is removed from the tank, is it just a matter of un-clipping the old and clipping the new pump on, or is there another trick?

The other Q is, according to the OEM fiche, the in-tank filter is situated higher up from the pump, is it necessary to remove the entire tank to get to that filter, using the other more obscured access at the fuel inlet?

thanks

I have spotted this link above http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...el+pump&page=2 and have been on it, but will appreciate a more direct answer to the 2/3 Q's above

Yes and No: just pull it out a bit further. Theres a huge amount of slack in the lines within the tank.

250mm to 275mm travel

Can anyone tell me what will be needed to convert the newer 2012 690r shock travel from 250mm to the older 2011 height of 275mm? Is it as simple as sending the shocks off for new springs, valves and settings or will I need newer down tubes and shock bodies etc.?

I am waiting for my new tank bolts (top and bottom) to arrive any day now from RR. One question I have is do the new allan head bolts screw through the existing welded nuts on the frame or do you have to remove them? From the photo on RR site the new bolts don't look very long

Just wait a few days I have designed a linkage (adjustable ) and waiting on the cost from the CNC machining
This would make the 250mm about 265 mm and the 275 to290mm travel with No shock mods

You still have to play with both forks ... You cannot just increase the rear end ...

I sold my BMW HP2 Enduro and ordered...

Today I ordered the 2012 KTM 690 Enduro R!
After many sleepless nights I finally decided to sell my HP2 (sorry to see it go...) but I it is to heavy for my riding style.

I also ordered a bunch of upgrades, if I miss anything major please let me know!
- Akra slip on silencer
- Steering damper
- Foam air filter
- Radiator protector
- Neoprene fork protector
- Touring windshield
- Case carrier system (to put on some soft bags)

Can't wait to get it but I need to sit tight until 1st week of March, maybe last of feb for it to be delivered and ready...

I've just seen some guys selling the safari and going to the RR.
I'm sure both are great, but riding in the west, more gas = more better.
Yep....no brass fitting leaks, no rad guard fitment questions/problems, and lots of "Geezuz, that's a big tank!" comments

I haven't tried to stick any reflective tape or James Brown stickers on mine yet, as those things fell off my 5 gallon Acerbis tank due to "breathability" of that plastic used in rotomolding. Any feedback from others who have stuck BNG's on their Safari's???

I have some superduper reflective tape used in highway signs that I would like to apply to Safai...

Thanks for any comments.
