The "new" 690, besides the full 690 cc, is an Enduro with orange frame and new radiator shrouds and graphics.

If they are billet they are definitely anodized.

I have heard from a WP suspension guy that the billet clamps have much better tolerances (even though the cast ones also get machined) so they help with less fork stiction. Not that I could ever notice the difference.

Olec any chance you can some more info on that Shell V power bulletin. I apologize on behalf of the guys who cried BS before we got to hear it thru...


I can't remember - does the US/Australia have "V power" at shells? Malaysia has V power and V power R (102 octane) at Shell. Shell is different here in Malaysia as it comes from higher quality crude out of Brunei. I always thought it was the best and maybe it is but that may or may not have anything to do with it not being any good for the 690.

Probably the one used on the 990's the last couple of years. Although the graphics have an R, the specs look more like the Enduro. These marketing changes resemble the kind of seat height/suspension height changes the 990/r/s has gone through. Ah, marketing...

I think I need one of those new ones. More motor with three modes of tuning and better ergos. Prolly have to even bite the bullet and buy a pair of those expensive tanks from RR too.



Anybody know what these will sticker for? Under $11k maybe?

I've done so much stuff to my 09 that no way am I going for a new one! The old one makes more than enough power for me. I am 55. I can say that.....
