Whammo: here is a screenshot of your tracks. Looks like a fun ride.

Red Bull: Nice meeting you at Urban's in LosB. Email me and I'll send you a Garmin Baja map as I promised.

Photo catch up.

Lil' Ronnie fall go boom. I hate coming around a corner and seeing a buddy pulling himself up off the ground. He laughed it off...like always does.

First morning sunrise.

Ed takes it all in.

Holy Shit!!! I'm ahead of Jean-Luc and I've got the photographic evidence to prove it!!!

Juan-Luc and Ronaldo

J-L blazin'. Thanks for not giving me the finger. Mom hates it ya know.

The boys with Coco. (Coco still needs 3 rolls of electrical tape)

Josh and Ron swap bikes. I love doing that!!! (see post: Tiny totals Kirk Moons KTM 950)

First thing Josh does is lose Ron's luggage. Bastard!! What next? Bend his rim?

Dudes riding.

Time for me to wrap up the first day...

After the snow we got in Death Valley a couple of weeks ago (see report), I was really hoping for some dry heat in Baja and the last thing I was expecting was HAIL . I was wrong! Look at the side of the trail: that's what that white thing is...

Some more mud...

And then we crossed again the path of that strange cloud that was delivering a huge load of hail on a narrow stripe in the scenery. Detail...

And the road itself. Notice how the hail covered surface stops abruptly:

Everyone had warned us about not riding in Baja at night but there no place really tempting around and the idea of sleeping on the beach was just too attractive. So on the road at night we went (the 3) to San Felipe. The ride on the the "black top" (thank you English teachers! ) was uneventful with little traffic and nothing scary to signal besides the military control at the junction with the 5... Always more intimidating at night with those artisanal torches all around.

After meeting a bunch of dirt riders and a good diner at "The New Greenhouse" we headed pretty lat to a beach campground that Whammo and Tiny knew from their previous trip. After a "bit" of negociation the price went from $100 ($20 per vehicule) to $30 for the group. It was so cool to finally be on the beach... Plus we had a real show with a bunch of lightnings visible on the mainland.

On the morning the clouds were still above the mainland...

... but we had a blue sky above our heads and I was finally able to take a picture like the ones that made me dream so often on those Baja ride reports:

The bikes...

The 2 inseparables enjoying the first ray of sun

Yesterday was another day...

Some people had a more active occupation:

Yes, that's part of the morning exercice!

"Time to go!"

After lunch, rain was on us again:

But not for long, and we really enjoyed that costal road

Then the landscape opens up to wider space

And flowers are everywhere. It was magic and you could send their perfume exhaling under the sun...

One rule in Baja: gas up at any opportunity! I loved that gas station in the middle of nowhere... with the mandatory racing stickers.

What were you saying Tiny about the finger?

The plants diversity and beauty was quite surprising to me

Coco's

The Brit

Trophy's collection

Proof that Tiny and Whammo were here before!

Coco is such a nice and sharp guy. Bye bye now!
