800 miles of dirt

September 1
I left northern Utah and headed north to go to a club ride.
mind you this pic only shows my love of the statement "Pavement ends"
now back to Utah

this is heading out on the road to promontory point, you know the golden spike.

then it turns to dirt and we head out to the north end of the great salt lake.

that's lone rock right on the edge of the lake, then you come to locomotive springs turn off and we head out to Kelton

did I mention that at this point you are riding on the old rail bed?
now and again the road (rail bed) comes to a curve and you go around a old trestle.

not a lot to see but hey its history the old rail trail.

North to a club ride in Idaho

then you come to Kelton and the old grave yard

then north to hyw 30

and west thru Park Valley to Dove Creek rd.

Dove creek is dirt all the way to Oakley Idaho

and you pass by city of the rocks

from Oakley you go west to Rogerson over the hill

from Rogerson you head west on 3 creek road , ya its slab .
but salmon falls dam is neat . OLD TOO

I don't know if the water coming out of the dam on the 1st and last pic of the dam are pressure relief or what?
after 45 miles or so you turn north on Clover 3 creek rd and ya its dirt till Bruneau

ya I know not much to see!
but now I made it to Nathan's house in mt. home Idaho
end of day one

and into Featherville then its back onto the dirt! and onto Rocky Bar

I looked for this but some how we missed it or we were on the wrong road.
this is also your first chance to go to Atlanta a small town in the sawtooth mts.

but we are heading in the Trinity lake area

then we turned right and headed for the Boise river

then over the hill to the north fork of the Boise with your last chance to Atlanta

turn right to hwy 21 and the end of dirt

Cascade Lake in Cascade Idaho

and this is the end of day 2

North to a club ride in Idaho

day 3 I got up and went on my 1st day of the club ride

it was a chilly morning as we headed out to warm lake

this was a challenge point for the club, 1st one of the day.

this is our leader, Idaho Sam.

this was the 2nd challenge point for the club

then we hit a forest road that Sam said 3 weeks ago was not paved, and now it is. can't remember the name of it .

then we turn right and followed a DIRT road up to Yellow Pine Idaho

we stopped in Yellow Pine for lunch

after lunch we headed up to Stibnite a old mining town. here is a link with some of the history
http://idptv.state.id.us/outdoors/sh...e/stibnite.cfm

this helio was flying back and forth so they are still mining something

heading back to Yellow Pine

and then down Johnson creek

must of had a booger on me, he just pointed

and then back to camp

dinner was awesome

then we watched the Boise game

an that was a 180 mile day with the club!

day 4
we all got up and headed out for a short 120 mile pavement and dirt ride.
it was cool this morning as you can see by the steam coming off the water
of lake Cascade.

onto the ride.

show off

Rosebarry Idaho

the crew!!

2 of the crew headed up to a lake and have to do a stream crossing

the rest of us had lunch and did a group pic

then we went up to no business look out

nice out house at the out look

then back around the lake and back to camp

this is the end of day 4 we had a great dinner and I even thru together a upside down yellow peach cake that was awesome , didnt get any pics but someone took a pic so maybe they'll post it up .

Day 5
most everyone has got up and headed home

as the last few headed out it was time for me to head home also

a gas stop in Garden Valley

then back on to the DIRT

so after a good morning of back tracking the way I came up, I stopped in Featherville for a late lunch.

so I stopped at Baumgartner Hot Springs and camp ground for the night.

so while at the hot springs I felt like a good long hot soak would be a good thing

camp for the night! and the end of day 5.

Day 6
the last day its all the way home today. but its Dirt for 70 or so miles to sun valley or Ketchum

this is the bridge out of the camp ground and so I looked off the side and saw

salmon! I should of brought my fishing pole!!

right to big smoky

YA I AM STILL HAVING FUN!!

so when I got to Ketchum I stopped at a little place that was awesome.

then down thru potato country

and back into UTAH

and then I back tracked thru Kelton and acrossed the top of the great salt lake and to Brigham and on to home

thanks for letting me share my 6 day adventure

Nice report. Thank for taking the time to share. The IAMC group never fails to provide a good time and Idaho Sam knows all the good places to go.
