Does Size Matter? CO / UT Part 2 (we're still confused)
(Warning!!! This ride report will contain input and perspective from all of us. There will be lies, exaggerations, confusion and lots of pictures.)
The cast has somewhat changed, the bikes have changed, but the destinations stayed the same. Supahflid and I decided, once again, to escape the sweltering heat of Mississippi and head for the milder September temperature of southwest Colorado and southeast Utah. For those interested, last year’s ride report can be found here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=616833 This year’s participants once again include: DavidQ – Husky te610 (last year on a DRZ400) Supahflid – KTM 990 Dakar (last year on a KLR 650) Eatalotapeaches – 1200 GSA (last year on a DRZ 400) Also joining us are: Backwoodsklr – KLR 650 Evilbollweevil – KLR 650 Weave – Husky te610 Paddle 007 – DR650 Weave and Paddle are from Louisiana. We met them in Ouray last year. They are great guys and a lot of fun to be around. They would be meeting up with us Saturday. DavidQ screwed with this post 09-10-2011 at 10:42 AM |

Thursday, September 1st
We left Brandon, MS around 4pm bound for Ouray, CO. It was a pretty uneventful next 24 hours, except a flat trailer tire at 3:30am in north Texas. Friday, September 2nd Mid afternoon we had finally made our way to southwest CO. ![]() ![]() We arrived in Ouray about 4pm and decided to make a quick trip up to Yankee Boy Basin. Supah (left), BW (right) ![]() Within the first two miles, Officer Barker decided to let me know I was going a little too fast. ![]() After I agreed to control my “enthusiasm” he let me continue with a warning. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() About half way down, and way past dinner time, Supah decided to get a flat. Evil jumped in and we were soon on our way. ![]() Almost back to Ouray.

Saturday, September 3rd
Weave and Paddle wouldn’t be here until later in the afternoon so we decided to take it easy and head for the Alpine Loop. We left Ouray and headed for Engineer Pass. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This little guy was wondering what all the commotion was about. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() from left to right: Peaches, supah, evil, BW, DavidQ, and James. We met James in Ouray. He was by himself for the day so we invited him to join us.

The radiator guards on my Husky are from Motosportz. I'm glad you are enjoying it so far. We are just getting started. All the good stuff is still to come.

I told y'all we were confused. One thing I'm sure about, the Husky, for me, was the correct decision for the kind of riding we did.
I'll get back to the RR a little later today. We have been in this truck for the past 22 hours. We are about 2 hours from home and I'm ready to lay down next to someone prettier than Supahflid.
