2nd Annual Treasure Valley TW200 Owners Club Rally Ride

Well, there is no club, and it wasn't a rally ride, but the name sounded cool. This was a 80 mile dual-purpose loop ride that a fellow TW200 rider and myself rode. We started at the bottom of Bogus Basin rd in Boise, rode to the ski area, continued on Boise Ridge Rd stopping for lunch at Harris Creek Summit. We then rode the Harris Creek/Star Ranch road turning south on Grimes Creek road. We then turned again on Clear Creek road, which eventually turns to Robie Creek Rd. Then headed back to Boise over Aldape Summit on Rocky Canyon/Shaw Mtn Rd. Had a good ride and everything went well...except I dropped my helmet with the camera mounted on it. You probably can tell with the dark area at the bottom right of almost all footage. Oh well, its just stuff! Hope you enjoy.

Because of the distance and safety concerns, I left my faithful riding companion (Georgie) home for this trip.

And she did a fine job of pouting I might add.

Here's some visual aids for our ride.

Here's Rick, my riding partner for the day. Last year Rick had a little mishap towards the end of our ride on Packer John Mtn, so it's nice to see he's recovered well.

As we depart Boise, Rick acknowledges another rider with the "famous motorcycle wave".

Former J.R. Simplot home. Big agriculture tycoon here in Idaho. Donated the house to the state for the Govenors Mansion. Has never been used for that purpose through two Govenors. Current Gov use to be married to a Simplot daughter later divorcing. Hmmm wonder if that's a reason he hasn't used it. To be fair, the previous Gov didn't use it either.

After ascending Bogus Basin road, we stop for a quick break at the ski area up top.

Lunch break at Harris Creek Summit.

Rick as we turn south on Grimes Creek rd.

Mine tailings on Grimes Creek from old dredge mining operations.

Another break at Aldape Summit. This is on part of the "Race to Robie Creek Half-Marathon". For the record, I don't run, err walk that far either.

Last break in Rocky Canyon on our final leg before coming back into Boise.

Here's some video of our ride. Hope you enjoy.

Hey Admiral (& Truelight) -- nice ride and write-up. Like the ending of the video. TWs are cool little bikes, really fun on both twisties and dirt. I ride my TW200 with a friend who has a KLR. He's always dropping the KLR. Ride safe.

Glad you enjoyed. This brings back memories, though it wasn't all that long ago (1 1/2 yrs).

Anyway, I used this music from YouTube Audio. Name of the song is "Bill's Last Adventure" by 3 Leg Torso.

Hope to see some video and ride reports from you in the future!

Thanks Admiral

Thanks for the info on the tune Admiral.
First I need to find a TW200, then I can post some RR's.
I live in Ontario, Canada; and finding the right TW takes time.

Georgie two up

Nice videos.

Has Georgie ever fallen off the bike. ?

What did he think?

I had an 04 XT225 for 5 yrs and loved it.
Sold it to a missionary pilot in Africa a couple months ago. It's still enroute I believe.

In the almost 8 years I've been riding with her, Georgie has only "fell off" 1 time,. I was going about 15-20 mph (if that, might have been slower) and hit a bump in the middle of the road. Guess it caught her off guard and off she went. Of course I limit her riding experience to logging roads and trails.

On the other hand, she has "bailed off" several times. Apparently she knows when I'm about to biff it. All slow speed stuff.

Hey Admiral -- that's funny. Georgie knows when you're going to hit the deck and she abandons you. Smart doggie.
