F650 ground wire help needed

Hey Y'all,

Just picked up a 1999 F650. When I removed the saddle, a wire was laying on the airbox. One end is connected to the bolt which holds the coolant tank to the frame. The disconnected end has a circlular metal connector on it. It is a black wire and fairy heavy gage. I believe it is a ground, but not sure what it is supposed to be connected to. Perhaps the regulator/rectifier?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

thomas

Talking ground strap >>>>>

Thats exactly what i said when i say it on my used f650 18 months ago...

it actually a helmet lock, thread it though the D-rings and there should a short little metal wire welded to the inside of the frame (pointing down), loop it onto that and lock the seat back down.

handy and with a little pactice i never even had to take the seat of completely

Guess I need to download an owners manual someplace......have a Clymer which doesn't cover basic operator stuff like that.

Thanks!
